NaphCare is hiring Mental Health LPNs/LVNs to join our healthcare team at Kilby Correctional Facility in Mt. Meigs, Alabama!

💰 Pay Range: $32.40–$34.20/hour + Shift Differential for Evening & Night Shifts🕐 Various Shifts Available: Days | Evenings | Nights | Weekends📅 Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities
As a Mental Health LPN/LVN, you’ll work alongside mental health professionals, medical providers, and correctional staff to provide quality care to individuals within the Alabama Department of Corrections. You’ll have the opportunity to strengthen your clinical skills while providing care to patients with a variety of behavioral and mental health needs.
Responsibilities may include performing patient assessments, administering medications, supporting treatment plans, monitoring changes in patients’ physical and mental health, and responding to urgent clinical needs.

Responsibilities
As a Mental Health LPN/LVN, you will play a critical role in providing quality healthcare that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Working alongside mental health and medical professionals, you will support patients with a variety of behavioral health and clinical needs. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Performing patient assessments and gathering medical and behavioral health history
- Taking and monitoring vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
- Administering medications, including psychiatric medications, and monitoring patient response
- Observing and documenting changes in patients’ physical, mental, and behavioral health status
- Supporting mental health treatment plans and coordinating care with mental health professionals and medical providers
- Recognizing and reporting changes in mood, behavior, mental status, or potential safety concerns
- Providing patient education and reinforcing treatment recommendations
- Maintaining accurate medical records in the electronic health record, TechCare
- Responding to urgent medical and behavioral health needs
- Providing wound care, emergency first aid, and other nursing care as needed
- Assisting with discharge/release planning and continuity of care
Qualifications
Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
