The Accounts Officer is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payments, preparation of timely and accurate bank reconciliations, and update of general ledger with all accounting transactions.The role supports the maintenance of strong financial controls, effective stakeholder engagement, accurate management reporting, and the continuous improvement of finance processes to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
1. Vendor & Operational Payment Management
Manage the end-to-end processing of vendor and operational payments, ensuring accuracy, completeness, compliance with approved authorizations, and adherence to agreed turnaround times and internal control requirements.
2. Payment Monitoring & Stakeholder Support
Monitor the status of vendor and operational payments and proactively communicate updates to stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of payment-related queries and a positive service experience.
3. Returned & Failed Payment Management
Investigate, resolve, and facilitate the reprocessing of failed or returned payments promptly, minimizing settlement delays and improving payment success rates.
4. Stakeholder & Banking Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for payment-related enquiries, providing timely support and fostering strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and banking partners.
5. Reporting & Management Information
Prepare accurate and timely payment trackers/ insights into payment performance, outstanding items, and key trends.
6. Bank Reconciliations
Perform timely and accurate bank reconciliations together with resolution of reconciling items.
7. General Ledger Management
Ensure accounting transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger, including the posting of journals, review of account balances, and maintenance of supporting documentation.
8. Financial Controls & Compliance
Maintain strong financial controls by ensuring compliance with company policies, delegated authorities, audit requirements, accounting standards, and regulatory obligations.
9. Process Improvement
Identify and implement opportunities to improve payment, reconciliation, and accounting processes, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, controls, and stakeholder experience.
