Associate Designer - Home Decor

Job summaryWe are a home textile company looking for an Associate Designer who can design and develop TEXTILE PRODUCTS FOR THE HOME. Our products reach a wide variety of tastes therefore the design you create must meet this criteria. We will provide you in-depth industry knowledge but you must bring the innate passion and technical capability. RESPONSIBILITIES Design and develop new products from concept through fruitionKeep accurate records and detailed copies of all working samplesTravel domestically and internationally to sourcing trade shows, mills and factories (when travel is allowed post-Covid)Conduct competitive market research and trend watch; present trend boards, market research dataDemonstrate real understanding of our brand by bridging just the right designs, colors, and fabricationsSKILLSMust be able to work with team and management effectively to communicate visionMust be able to demonstrate professionalism during design review meetingsWork well with graphic artist to bring new designs to fruitionMust be able to create sketches to convey design concepts, Photoshop, IllustratorCapable of creating original art -- hand sketching, drawing, painting (canvas, paper, screen), use Photoshop, and Illustrator to create a variety of icons and art relating to florals, botanicals, fruit, geometrics, Christmas, Harvest, pets, stripes, plaids, and a variety of art relating to home patterns.Strong comprehension and sharp eye for the mass and middle marketsPossess a very good understanding of textiles and how they can be manipulated and modifiedMust have solid working knowledge of fabrics -- jacquards, chenilles, embroidery techniques, prints, velvets, backing/binding fabrics, trims, dyeing and various like techniquesMust have cutting and sewing ability to sew all first samples perfectly and effectively or at minimum have the proper language to communicate with sample sewerCreate accurate spec sheetsSUCCESS FACTORSProfessionally manage through critical feedback during product development and design review processInnate passion for well decorated homes and the items that bring them togetherPride yourself on the quality of your work and not overlook the detailsGood eye for colors and trendsMust be very detail oriented and proactive in every step of the process.Education:Bachelor's (Preferred)Experience:Sketchup: 1 year (Preferred)Interior Design: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location:One locationWork Remotely:NoCOVID-19 Precaution(s):Personal protective equipment provided or requiredSocial distancing guidelines in placeSanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in placeCOMPENSATION/BENEFITSVery competitive salary based on experience and skill level, 401K, Profit Sharing, PTO, Phone allowance, other benefits, friendly easy-going environment.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Paid time offProfessional development assistanceBenefit Conditions: Waiting period may apply
