Description
The Area Manager oversees a portfolio of multifamily communities, including affordable and market-rate properties. This role is responsible for driving financial performance, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and resident satisfaction across assigned communities.
The Area Manager works closely with Community Managers, Regional leadership, Maintenance leadership, and corporate support teams to ensure properties are operating at the highest standards while meeting ownership objectives and company expectations. This position requires strong leadership, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple communities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements
What You'll Do
- Lead and support multiple Community Managers and onsite teams.
- Drive occupancy, financial performance, and resident satisfaction.
- Partner with leadership to improve underperforming communities.
- Oversee budgets, operations, capital improvements, and asset preservation.
- Ensure compliance with HUD, LIHTC, RD, and other affordable housing programs.
- Coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
- Build strong relationships with owners, residents, vendors, and corporate partners.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of multi-site property management experience.
- Strong affordable housing knowledge (HUD, LIHTC, RD preferred).
- Proven leadership and team development experience.
- Financial management and budgeting expertise.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management software is a plus.
Work Hours & Benefits:
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM with some flexibility.
- Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan, generous paid time off, and paid holidays.
- Compensation: Up to $70,000, based on experience.
Travel
This position requires regular travel throughout your assigned portfolio, including occasional overnight travel.
