Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include:
- Lead and oversee daily activities of survey field crews, including assigning tasks, monitoring productivity, and providing guidance and performance feedback to crew members.
- Train and mentor field personnel on survey techniques, equipment operation, quality control procedures, and industry safety standards.
- Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction surveying for land development, retail, mixed-use, and commercial projects.
- Collect accurate field data using conventional surveying methods, robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS/GNSS equipment.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate survey equipment to complete property surveys, existing conditions surveys, utility locations, site development surveys, and construction layout.
- Establish horizontal and vertical control, recover property corners, set benchmarks, and perform detailed field measurements to support design and construction activities.
- Conduct construction staking for commercial developments, including site grading, utilities, roadways, stormwater systems, curb and gutter, foundations, and other site improvements.
- Maintain accurate field notes, sketches, and electronic survey files while ensuring collected data meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to support successful delivery of land development and construction projects.
What You'll Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; specialized training, technical coursework, or surveying education preferred, with experience leading field survey crews supporting land development, retail, mixed-use, and commercial projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to maintain accurate field notes, document survey data, interpret project plans, and effectively coordinate daily crew activities.
- Proficient in the setup, operation, and use of surveying equipment, including GPS, total stations, data collectors, levels, and other measurement tools to perform boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
- Ability to perform basic survey calculations, geometry, and field computations while ensuring accurate collection of data and adherence to project requirements.
- Ability to safely perform fieldwork in various environments, including carrying equipment, clearing vegetation as needed, and maintaining productivity while following company safety procedures.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required; ability to travel to project sites as needed.
