Description
A Bartender is responsible for mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient bar environment.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation & Mixology: Crafting cocktails, pouring wine and beer, and preparing non-alcoholic drinks according to established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
Guest Service & Hospitality: Welcoming guests warmly, taking food and drink orders, answering questions about the menu, making recommendations, and building rapport with regulars.
Bar Operations & Maintenance: Setting up and breaking down the bar station. This includes washing and sanitizing glassware, wiping down counters, and prepping garnishes, ice, and mixers.
Financial Transactions: Operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, processing cash, credit card, and mobile payments, splitting checks accurately, and balancing the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
Inventory & Restocking: Monitoring liquor, beer, wine, and supply levels throughout the shift, restocking shelves and coolers, and reporting low inventory to management.
Responsible Alcohol Service: Checking guest IDs to ensure they meet the legal drinking age, monitoring guest intoxication levels, and safely cutting off service when necessary.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience: Previous experience as a bartender or bartender apprentice (barback) in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Certifications: Valid Mixology, Bartending or wine certification
Skills: Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine. High proficiency with POS systems and basic math for processing transactions.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for long shifts, lift heavy items like ice buckets and kegs (up to 50 lbs), and move quickly in tight spaces.
