About the Team
There are a lot of activities that happen in our stores so we have a strong cross-functional team focused on doing Anything for Pets by supporting the store teams through effective communications, processes and initiatives. The Store Strategy & Operations department leads the way to support all store activities and define business-driving strategies. The Workforce, Insights & Planning team owns labor optimization and reporting needs. The Operations & Innovation team owns merchandise execution, process improvement, compliance, store technology and innovation. And the Strategy team leads all the business-driving efforts for Salon, PetsHotel, Pet Training and In-store customer experience. These teams work diligently to ensure our associates, pets and pet parents are supported, while operating efficiently to drive the business.
About the Location
Field Position:
This position is considered Field based and is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Field associates will spend their time both traveling to and spending time in various PetSmart locations and can expect to be asked to travel to Phoenix Home Office periodically throughout the year. Field associates typically work out of their home office when not traveling as outlined above.

SUMMARY
The District Salon Trainer (DST) is an educator in their assigned districts of the PetSmart field organization, responsible for providing technical training (both in-person and remotely) for areas of our services business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate Dog & Cat
- Provide Oversight for Salon GetSmart Training and Curriculum.
- Evaluate productivity and staffing needs in the district to determine location and timing of Academy sessions.
- Oversee and complete technical assessments for Academy trainees, both pre- and post- Academy, plus ongoing technical assessments as required.
- Partner with District Leaders to communicate technical standards and drive results through quality
- Develop and facilitate Services-specific technical content during district meetings and conference
- Evaluate staffing needs for salon including dog and cat grooming
- Utilize reporting tools to identify opportunities and plan technical, safety and staffing support as needed.
- Support Store Leadership with general Services engagement.
- Facilitate Safety Seminars and other ongoing education programs as prescribed by the home
- Driving safety standards, quality, and performance within their assigned districts through effective training.
- Up to 75% travel across a specified group of store locations, including periodic home office and district meeting travel, and overnight travel as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated experience in the following areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience:
- Leading, training, and developing others with various learning styles.
- A minimum of 4 years of dog grooming experience. Cat grooming and/or additional grooming certifications is
- 2-5 years of experience in a PetSmart Grooming Salon. PetSmart Salon Leader experience strongly
- Ability to demonstrate and communicate advanced Pet Styling skills and grooming to breed standards and knowledge of salon policies &
- Strong track record related to pet and human safety in the Salon.

The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
