Laboratory Assistant I - FT - Days - MRH

Summary:

Prepares specimens for analysis by registering and accessioning orders via Laboratory Information Systems (clinical lab and/or anatomic pathology), verifying specimen acceptability.

Responsibilities:

Provides input to evaluations of team members.Train and coordinate training of new and current employees.May determine and coordinates daily staffing assignments and levels.May coordinate billing functions of reference lab testing.May manage work queues of registration and billing discrepancies.May perform phlebotomy functions.Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.Performs clerical duties. Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.Provides laboratory customer service to include request for add-ons, specimen collection information, phlebotomy requests, result inquiry, etc.

Education and Certification Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
