Description
Maintenance Manager
Guelph, Ontario | Full-time, on-site
About the role
Our Guelph manufacturing client is looking for a Maintenance Manager to take charge of equipment reliability, facility upkeep, and a skilled maintenance crew. You’ll be a technical authority and a people leader, someone who would rather stop a breakdown before it starts than scramble to fix it afterward. You’ll also share your expertise with sister plants across North America, helping raise maintenance standards company-wide.
Your day-to-day
Equipment and facility reliability
- Design and roll out preventive maintenance programs that extend equipment life and cut unplanned downtime
- Step in on repairs and diagnostics, including responding to urgent breakdowns
- Manage the building and site: general facility operations, janitorial services, security, and relationships with outside contractors and vendors
- Control spare parts stock and take part in budget planning and cost management
Team leadership
- Mentor and develop your maintenance staff, supporting their skills and career growth
- Own hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and recognition for the team
- Set the tone for a accountable, collaborative, improvement-minded group, with open communication and regular team huddles
- Make sure your people have the resources, training, and backing they need to do their best work
Improvement across our North American network
- Act as a resource for maintenance supervisors at our other plants, offering troubleshooting help, technical advice, and shared best practices
- Help drive adoption of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), standardized maintenance procedures, and SAP-based maintenance workflows
- Look for ways to streamline maintenance processes, boost equipment performance, and tighten coordination between teams
- Work closely with production and other departments to meet operational needs and serve your internal customers well
Safety and quality
- Confirm all maintenance work complies with health and safety requirements
- Sit on the safety committee and help investigate incidents
- Contribute to our ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 systems while keeping the plant safe, tidy, and efficient
What we’re looking for
- Post-secondary training in an industrial mechanical discipline
- Current Millwright licence
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience since becoming a licensed Millwright
- Minimum 5 years managing or supervising people
- Solid mechanical troubleshooting ability and hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs
- A pragmatic, results-oriented approach to maintenance planning and equipment reliability
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Nice to have
- SAP experience, ideally in maintenance modules
- Background in electrical systems, plumbing, PLCs, HVAC, or facility management
- Familiarity with extruders, mills, and mixers
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, ISO quality systems, or OSHA standards
Work details
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Location: On-site in Guelph
- Flexibility: Some weekend work and on-call coverage for emergencies may be required
- Travel: Periodic visits to our plants in North America
Pay and benefits
- Base salary: $100,000 to $127,000 CAD annually
- Performance bonus
- RRSP matching up to 5%
- up to 4 weeks vacation to start
