Job Description

Lead approximately 25 engineers and specialists who build and operate critical platform services supporting a large part of Rabobank’s data landscape.

 

You & your role

As Tech Lead Data Foundation Platform Services, you know the secrets of combining hands-on technical leadership with people leadership. You guide multiple engineering teams that develop and operate secure, scalable and reliable platform services on Microsoft Azure.

 

You shape architecture decisions, technical roadmaps and modernization initiatives, while helping engineers use Generative AI to learn faster, improve delivery and focus on high-value work.

• Modernizing and expanding enterprise-grade data platform services on Microsoft Azure, driving adoption of cloud-native architectures and engineering best practices.
• Leading modernization initiatives across .NET applications and platform services.
• Optimizing large-scale SQL Server environments for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Building reusable platform capabilities and engineering standards for development teams, improving CI/CD pipelines, automation, observability, and operational excellence.
• Enabling engineering teams to deliver secure and compliant solutions at scale.
• Driving technical debt reduction and platform simplification initiatives.

You are also part of the Area Triangle with the Area Lead and Business Architect. Together with other Tech Leads, you contribute to the long-term direction of Data Foundation.

 

You & your responsibilities

• You are responsible for managing budgets and technology investments related to the platform, ensuring that resources are used effectively and aligned with strategic priorities. You also collaborate with external suppliers and strategic partners, ensuring they contribute effectively to the quality, continuity, and future development of the platform.
• You work closely with stakeholders across Architecture, Data, Security, Infrastructure, and the Business to align technical direction and priorities. In a complex enterprise environment, you create transparency around choices, dependencies, risks, and progress, helping stakeholders make well-informed decisions.
• You establish and drive engineering standards and best practices across the platform. You promote automation, quality engineering, observability, and security by design as integral parts of the engineering lifecycle. You also ensure that technical debt is made visible, prioritized, and systematically reduced to maintain a scalable and sustainable technology landscape.
• You build and develop strong engineering teams by hiring, coaching, and supporting engineers in their professional and technical growth. You create an environment in which people take ownership, share knowledge, and continuously learn and improve. At the same time, you strengthen the technical capabilities required to meet both current and future platform needs.
• You take end-to-end responsibility for the stability and reliability of our platform services in a 24/7 environment. You ensure that the platform meets high standards for performance, availability, scalability, and operational excellence, enabling reliable services for the teams and business processes that depend on it.
• You act as the technical authority for our Data Foundation Platform Services, providing direction on architecture, engineering practices, and technology choices. You lead the technical evolution of the platform and play a key role in driving platform modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.

You & your talent

• Academic working and thinking level.
• 8+ years of experience in complex enterprise IT environments.
• Proven experience leading multiple DevOps or engineering teams, with strong people leadership and coaching skills and demonstrated ability to build high-performing engineering teams.

Technical Expertise

• Proven expertise with Microsoft Azure platform services and experience with cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of full stack .NET development (.NET Framework and/or .NET Core).
• Extensive experience with SQL Server, database architecture, performance tuning, and operational management.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, and automation, with an understanding of observability, monitoring, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Familiarity with security, risk, and compliance requirements in enterprise environments.

You must be located in the Netherlands, re-location is not possible for this role.
