Job description:

To improve the reliability, availability and maintainability of fixed plant assets by identifying and managing asset risks, analysing performance and failure trends, optimising maintenance strategies, and supporting safe, cost-effective concentrator operation.

  • Comply with and promote all health, safety, environmental, quality, legal and company requirements applicable to the role, ensuring reliability activities support safe and responsible flotation and crushing plant operations.
  • Own and continuously improve the reliability strategy for flotation and crushing assets, including flotation cells, rotors, stators, dart valves, agitators, blowers, air distribution and froth handling systems, slurry pumps, gyratory and jaw crushers, mineral sizers, feeders, rock breakers, lubrication and hydraulic systems, gearboxes, drives, instrumentation and associated auxiliaries.
  • Identify, assess and manage flotation and crushing asset reliability risks that may impact safety, throughput, production recovery, product quality, environmental compliance, maintenance cost or plant availability.
  • Develop, review and optimise Asset Maintenance Plans, preventative maintenance tasks, inspection routines, condition monitoring requirements and critical spares strategies for flotation and crushing equipment.
  • Analyse flotation and crushing equipment performance, failure history, downtime, work order quality, maintenance cost, process-related impacts and production loss data to identify and implement reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis, FMEA/FMECA, defect elimination and corrective action processes for repetitive, high-cost or high-risk failures affecting flotation and crushing circuit performance.
  • Use condition monitoring information, including oil analysis, vibration monitoring, thermal inspections, process trends, slurry pump performance, crusher operating parameters and operational feedback, to detect emerging failures and recommend timely interventions across flotation and crushing circuits.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance, operations, planning, condition monitoring, metallurgical and project teams on flotation and crushing equipment reliability, maintainability, troubleshooting, repair strategies and improvement priorities.
  • Participate in the design, modification, commissioning and acceptance testing of new or modified flotation and crushing plant installations to ensure reliability, maintainability and lifecycle asset management requirements are addressed.
  • Support repair-versus-replace, redesign, make-or-buy and lifecycle cost decisions for flotation and crushing equipment by applying value analysis, risk assessment and total cost of ownership principles.
  • Monitor and report key reliability indicators such as availability, utilisation, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, backlog quality, repeat failures, maintenance cost, asset health, process interruption, flotation circuit constraints and crushing circuit throughput and performance trends.
  • Coach and guide flotation and crushing maintenance and operations personnel in reliability principles, equipment defect identification, work quality, inspection discipline and the effective use of reliability systems and tools.

Qualifications

  • Full grade twelve (G12) school certificate.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or related field
  • Understanding of complex electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to obtain EIZ certification.
  • Valid Zambian or International Driver’s License.
  • Solid computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs.
  • All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
