Department Description

Dissolution Sciences is part of the Global Analytical Development organization within Synthetics Development. The team develops dissolution and in vitro release methods supporting pharmaceutical development, registration, commercialization, and lifecycle management for a broad portfolio of innovative medicines.

The organization develops, validates, transfers, and maintains dissolution methods while supporting product development, regulatory submissions, manufacturing investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. The team collaborates closely with pharmaceutical development, quality, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and external partners across the global organization.

Job Description

The Senior Scientist will provide scientific leadership for dissolution and in vitro release activities across development and commercial products. The role will support method development, validation, transfer, investigations, regulatory submissions, and lifecycle management while contributing to innovation and capability building within the Dissolution Sciences organization.

The Successful Candidate

• Represents Dissolution Sciences in cross-functional teams consisting of pharmaceutical, analytical, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory scientists.
• Leads development of dissolution and in vitro release strategies supporting development, registration, and commercialization programs.
• Designs and executes dissolution method development, validation, transfer, comparability, and troubleshooting studies.
• Supports complex investigations and develops scientifically sound solutions for product-performance challenges.
• Contributes to Health Authority submissions, responses, inspections, and regulatory interactions.
• Introduces innovative approaches in dissolution development, automation, modeling, data analytics, and laboratory technologies.
• Drives scientific excellence while mentoring colleagues and contributing to capability development across the organization.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• PhD or MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biopharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in dissolution method development, validation, and lifecycle management within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience supporting pharmaceutical product development and commercialization.
• Experience supporting regulatory submissions, inspections, investigations, or Health Authority interactions is preferred.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading scientific teams is considered an advantage.

Competencies & Knowledge

• Strong understanding of dissolution sciences, biopharmaceutics, and in vitro release methodologies.
• Knowledge of global regulatory expectations related to dissolution methods and product-performance assessments.
• Experience working in GMP-regulated environments.
• Strong scientific problem-solving and data-interpretation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with global cross-functional teams.
• Ability to challenge existing approaches and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Passion for scientific innovation and advancing dissolution science.
