You will partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, Architecture, Client Delivery, Support, and others to build scalable, resilient solutions for complex, mission-critical systems.
This is an opportunity to combine hands-on technical leadership with team development and strategic influence. You will shape architecture, improve engineering execution, and help evolve a platform that supports both State Street and its enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead execution across the complete software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through deployment and production support.
- Partner with Product Management to translate business and client priorities into a clear, executable engineering roadmap.
- Design scalable, maintainable solutions for complex enterprise data and platform requirements.
- Guide architectural decisions that improve scalability, performance, resilience, security, and operability.
- Provide technical leadership on complex system-design decisions and critical engineering challenges.
- Build and develop a high-performing engineering team by hiring, mentoring, and growing engineers and team leads.
- Promote engineering excellence through modern development practices, automation, testing, observability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across engineering, architecture, client delivery, and support teams on strategic initiatives and critical client needs.
What we are looking for:
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of software-engineering experience, including experience leading teams responsible for enterprise-scale production systems.
- Strong technical expertise in Java, distributed systems, and database design.
- Demonstrated success designing and delivering scalable, reliable, high-quality platforms.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, event-driven systems, and modern software-engineering practices.
- Proven ability to hire, mentor, develop, and lead strong technical teams.
- Strong communication, collaboration, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance strategic technical direction with pragmatic delivery.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience developing data platforms or other large-scale, data-intensive systems (Strongly Preferred)
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering practices and the thoughtful application of AI within software delivery (Strongly Preferred).
- Experience in financial services.
Why this role matters
- You will have the opportunity to influence the evolution of a strategic enterprise platform, develop talented engineering teams, and deliver capabilities that help internal teams and enterprise clients use trusted data to make better and faster decisions.
