About the Department

Mono County Behavioral Health provides services to support the mental health and well-being of individuals and families throughout the community. The department works collaboratively with healthcare providers, schools, law enforcement, probation, and other community partners to coordinate care, address behavioral health needs, and connect individuals with appropriate resources. Serving a rural community requires a flexible, collaborative approach to service delivery, crisis response, and access to care. The department is committed to providing responsive, effective, and compassionate services that promote individual and community well-being.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a compassionate, skilled behavioral health professional who demonstrates sound clinical judgment, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. This individual communicates effectively, maintains confidentiality, prepares accurate clinical documentation, and works collaboratively with clients, families, healthcare providers, and community partners to coordinate appropriate care. The successful candidate remains calm and objective in challenging situations, applies effective therapeutic and crisis intervention techniques, and is committed to supporting individuals with complex behavioral health needs.

Candidates for advanced levels will also bring strong program development, leadership, and clinical supervision skills, with the ability to manage complex cases, guide staff, evaluate services, and support compliance and quality improvement efforts. Experience with rural behavioral health service delivery and substance use disorder treatment is desirable. Across all levels, the ideal candidate values teamwork, professional development, and providing accessible, effective behavioral health services to the Mono County community.
