THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Product Manager, China plays a central role in shaping TechInsights' China product portfolio, with responsibility for both managing existing offerings and leading the development of new products and services. This individual will own the conception, development, and implementation of information-based products and subscription services — including the Compliance Monitor and other China ecosystem intelligence products.
Working closely with the Director, China Product, the Chief Strategy Office, and colleagues across marketing, sales, and customer experience, the Product Manager will contribute meaningfully to overall product strategy and support the product and customer lifecycle from end to end. This is an opportunity to help guide strategic direction while collaborating across a range of functions.
The role also requires close attention to the broader landscape: monitoring and assessing emerging regulatory developments, the evolving U.S.-China technology competition, and relevant technical trends, as well as evaluating competitors from a technical capability perspective.
This position is well suited to a candidate who brings strong analytical judgment and a genuine interest in the intersection of technology, policy, and strategy.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Manage existing and develop new China products:
- Manage day-to-day responsibilities of the Compliance Monitor and other China ecosystem intelligence products.
- Review and analyze customer experience and product health data (user engagement, report delivery, regulatory accuracy) to ensure the products meet customer expectations; monitor utilization of consulting-hour commitments.
- Support product development for the China ecosystem products in coordination with the Director, China Product and the Chief Strategy Office.
- Engage clients and prospective clients to understand longer-term needs and market problems.
- Identify new opportunities to improve the products and make recommendations for initiatives to continuously improve them.
- Engage with stakeholders – customers, potential customers, government officials, etc.
- Investigate and assess the competitive landscape and the evolving U.S.-China regulatory environment.
- Define and maintain structured processes for integrating regulatory and national security updates - BIS actions, Entity List changes, ECCN and performance-threshold shifts, enforcement cases - into product logic and data.
- Keep up to date on export control policy, the U.S.-China technology competition, and the Chinese semiconductor ecosystem by participating in seminars, webinars, and conferences.
- Create content leveraging TechInsights’ technical and market intelligence capabilities.
- Oversee the Compliance Monitor landing page and, as products launch, China product content - ensuring timely and accurate publication of alerts, findings, and BIS-related updates; coordinate content creation and distribution with the CSO, the Director, analysts, and third-party contractors.
- Partner with Platform and Engineering to make products AI-native - integrating with Insightful Chat and MCP connectors, and supporting a dedicated agent for China intelligence use cases.
- Define the release process and coordinate all activities required to bring products to market; maintain a prioritized backlog for the content creation and software development teams.
- Work with the Director, Platform and Technical Product Managers to ensure the Platform meets the needs of your users, customers, and the market as a whole.
- Manage alerting and update cadence; provide training and support for users on your product line; update progress to stakeholders on a regular cadence.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise.
- 5+ years of Product Management experience, ideally in compliance, regulatory, national security, or data-centric environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, International Trade, Political Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA or relevant Master's preferred.
- Understanding of export control concepts, ECCN classification, BIS regulations, and Entity List management.
- Familiarity with semiconductor supply chain dynamics and the Chinese semiconductor ecosystem (AI accelerators, foundry, memory, equipment).
- Working understanding of AI-native product delivery, including LLM-based assistants and MCP connectors, is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and data management capabilities; proficiency with BI tools or data visualization platforms; strong written communication for translating technical and regulatory information into clear deliverables.
- Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- Ability to solve complex problems and take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
- Impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives; work is guided by department objectives.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts; anticipate potential objections and influence others to adopt a different point of view.
As part of the recruitment process for this position, you will be required to submit your latest citizenship and/or permanent residency information. This information will be used to comply with U.S. Export Control Laws and Regulations.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
- Hybrid or remote work arrangement, depending on proximity to a TechInsights office; Washington, DC preferred given close coordination with the China product team and the Chief Strategy Office.
- Prolonged periods working at a computer workstation; ability to participate in virtual and in-person meetings throughout the workday.
- Occasional travel for team meetings, customer engagements, or company events.
- Regular attendance and engagement during core business hours are essential.
- Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
- May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
