Fibre Planner - Senior

Are you an experienced fibre network designer ready to lead complex projects from concept to handover? Join our Networks team as a Senior Fibre Planner in Tshwane or Plattekloof and take ownership of designing and delivering high-quality FTTH, FTTB, and Carrier-grade fibre networks aligned to technical and commercial objectives.

The key purpose of this role is to lead the design and implementation of fibre network projects from feasibility through to final handover, ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and alignment with operational and business goals.

What you’ll do:

• Design, plan, and implement fibre optic networks for FTTH, FTTB, and Carrier services in alignment with network and business requirements
• Lead the full design lifecycle of fibre projects from feasibility through detailed design and final handover
• Produce high-quality network designs using tools such as AutoCAD, QGIS, or similar platforms
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Project Management, Operations, Commercial, and other internal teams to ensure successful project execution
• Engage with external stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth project progression
• Ensure designs meet technical, financial, and commercial criteria
• Support the Planning Manager with pipeline forecasting, delivery tracking, and process optimisation
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Planning function
• Uphold QA standards across all delivered designs
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and structured knowledge transfer to junior planners
• Travel as required to support project planning, site inspections, and stakeholder engagements

What you’ll need:

• Minimum Grade 12
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in fibre network planning and design (FTTH, FTTB, Carrier)
• Experience in Carrier network design will be advantageous
• Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, QGIS, or similar platforms
• Strong understanding of fibre design principles, civil infrastructure, wayleave processes, and permitting requirements
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong documentation and reporting ability
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
