Certified Medical Coder (CPC) – Orthopedic & Podiatry Specialty

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and certified Medical Coder (CPC) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation, assigning appropriate medical codes, and ensuring accurate billing and claims processing in compliance with U.S. healthcare standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS). The candidate must have experience coding for Orthopedic and Podiatry specialties, including surgical and office-based procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze patient medical records to identify relevant diagnoses, treatments, and procedures.
  
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on provider documentation.
  
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of coded data for billing, reimbursement, and compliance purposes.
  
• Verify and reconcile coded data against physician documentation, payer policies, and insurance guidelines.
  
• Code a variety of Orthopedic and Podiatry procedures, including office visits, injections, fracture care, casting/splinting, surgical procedures, and durable medical equipment (DME) when applicable.
  
• Review operative reports and ensure correct coding of musculoskeletal and lower-extremity procedures.
  
• Identify coding discrepancies, denials, and documentation gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
  
• Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain clarification or additional documentation when necessary.
  
• Maintain confidentiality of patient health information in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
  
• Meet productivity and accuracy targets as defined by management.
  
• Stay up to date with coding guidelines, payer-specific requirements, CMS updates, and healthcare regulations.

Qualifications:

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification preferred.
• At least 2 years of medical coding experience in a physician practice, hospital, or revenue cycle environment.
• Required: Proven experience in Orthopedic and Podiatry coding, including surgical and non-surgical procedures.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coding for Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, Foot & Ankle, Pain Management, or Podiatry practices.
  
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines related to orthopedic and podiatric services.
  
• Previous experience handling coding audits, denial management, and provider education initiatives.
