POSITION SUMMARY – Security Training Officer

 

Compensation: $27.00 an hour 

POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Training Manager and Training Supervisor this position is responsible for managing the enterprise-wide training cycle of the Physical Security Training programs, support learning solutions and improve teammate knowledge and skills that is aligned with enterprise-wide strategic goals, and initiatives. Ensures training programs are in compliance with pertinent Federal, State, and Local laws. Provides leadership by delivering program objectives. Responsible for continuous process improvement. Partnering with business leaders and other related teams.  

Compensation: Full time-    

Schedule: Rotating schedule. Primarily evening shift 4:30p-12:30a; schedule will rotate to include weekends.  

Education and Experience:  

Completed High School Diploma or GED.  

Associates degree in Business Management, Education, Human Resources, Criminal Justice or a directly related field preferred.  

 Two (2) years of site-specific experience at the airport, a TSR 1542 regulated airport or as approved by the Contract Manager experience in security, loss prevention or law enforcement required.  

Two (2) years of related responsible experience planning, development, conducting professional training or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Obtain/maintains valid Driver’s License and meet company driving standards.  

Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable licenses or certifications.  

Experience with Learning Management Systems.  

Knowledge of:  

Federal, State and Local applicable laws.  

Principle and practices and development of employee training programs.  

Possess a clear understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design, and principles of effective communication.  

Latest training resources.  

Possess in-depth knowledge of site-specific Post Orders.  

Highly proficient with products to include office computers, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and training systems.  

Proficiency with fax machines, calculators, printers, copiers, and other standard office machines.  

 

Skill in:  

Developing, managing, and implementing training programs for adult learners.  

Building collaborative relations with all levels of the organizations.

This position plays a critical role in the teammate experience through providing expert leadership, guidance, oversight, and individual support of end-to-end development for learning materials, curricula, assessment, and related projects to support the full talent lifecycle. The Training Manager uses a data-driven approach to ensure that the content ecosystem effectively leverages outcomes a multi-modal approach to meet desired educational and organizational outcomes. As a member of the Atlanta Team, this position partners on all levels across the business to continuously identify needs, that is aligned with enterprise-wide strategic goals, and scalable solutions to expand and improve upon programs that support the engagement, development and safety of our teammates ensuring our compliance with various regulatory and oversight requirements.

Responsible for translating organizational and Atlanta Team strategic goals into content strategy and scalable and sustainable programs leveraging a variety of authoring tools.

 

This role will ensure content quality by defining processes and standards for design, development, style, user acceptance testing, version control, and sustainability. This role will support the teammate experience by closely partnering with business leaders and the Atlanta Team to perform gap analyses; ensure alignment; define quality standards and internal audit processes; and manages LMS Analyst, Training and Compliance Coord, Trainers as needed.

 

This position must have a strong customer service orientation and be effective at communicating with employees, leaders and working cross-functionally to gain consensus and partner to accomplish program objectives. The successful candidate for this role will proactively partner with the business to identify opportunities; leverage attention to detail and written communication skills to aggregate information and create cohesive programs; and provide leadership to content development and related learning programs. This position operates in a strong team-based environment where collaboration is critical for fulfilling the needs of the business.

 

Learning Content (50% of time):

Leadership of and participation in end-to-end content development and learning projects across learning modalities and in partnership with contractors and vendors as needed. Leverages data and business objectives to identify opportunities for learning to have a positive impact on key metrics. Partners with stakeholders and subject matter experts on priorities, programs, and content development.

 

· Identify gaps and assess ongoing training requirements based on data, feedback, contractual requirements, industry best practices, regulatory requirements, quality metrics, and business needs.

· Designs, develops, and evaluates curricula, training materials, participant guides, facilitator guides, job aides and performance support tools to meet and enhance training needs.

· Develops courseware with features including content, interactivity, graphics, audio, voiceover, animation, and video.

· Leverages multi-modal learning to include ILT, VILT, eLearning, podcasts, webinars, microlearning, micro-credentials, MOOCs, social learning, video, and other applicable modalities to meet learning needs.

· Works with 3rd-party content providers to license materials.

· Creates and manages a learning ecosystem leveraging LMS, SharePoint, HRIS, and other applicable systems.

· Works with LMS systems and vendors to ensure integration of e-Learning solutions.

· Partners with subject matter experts across the business and in the industry to develop best-in-class learning solutions.

· Manages implemented data reports and provides troubleshooting guidance.

Process & Quality Standards (25% of time):

Defines and documents standards and processes for learning programs and content to include intake and prioritization, kickoff, storyboard, Style Guide, copyediting, quality assurance, UAT, and others as identified. Develops processes for version control, standard content revisions, sustainability planning, content launches, and other as needs identified.

· Defines and documents standardized processes aligned with best practice.

· Defines and documents clear quality standards and UAT expectations for vendors and contractors.

· Ensures organization-wide processes in place for intake and prioritization with business need.

· Continually evaluates and provides recommendations to improve quality and execution.

Program Management (25% of time):

Leadership of and participation in the planning, resourcing, coordination, implementation, and sustainability of learning programs across the Enterprise. Day-to-day oversight of Trainers and other resources as needed.

· Collaborates with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to determine the project scope, learning objectives, and instructional design strategies for learning projects and programs.

· Defines strategy and outcomes for learning content, related programs, and projects.

· Develops Executive Summaries, Project Overviews, and Project Plans.

· Collaborates with stakeholders to define and document success criteria for programs and projects.

· Clearly communicate timelines, goals, roles, responsibilities, and expectations.

· Researches and manages the work of external vendors and products for integration into learning programs and plans.

· Ensures that projects and programs are evaluated against business metrics and objectives and are delivered on-time.

· Stay abreast of and evaluate new and emerging instructional design and adult learning theories and technologies for increased effectiveness.

· Leads meetings and project teams.

· Packages, uploads, and curates’ content in the Learning Management System.

· Troubleshoots technical challenges with digital content.

· Other duties at the direction of the Ops Ex Team.

· Collaborates with Request for Proposal teams to answer training and development related questions. Leads the Ops Ex team’s effort to draft content and language that informs our role as a leader in the Security industry, especially in the area of training and development to potential clients.

· Analyzes departmental needs within the Instructional Design and Learning Management System (LMS) arm of Training Management and Development. Communicate and advocate resource needs to enable the team to fulfill the responsibilities of these teams.

· Builds an instructional design and LMS team to full capacity. (hire, train, manage this team).

· Becomes fully informed of and manages resources to be at full capacity and fulfill both the LMS Analyst and LMS Administrator role within this team. Includes additional knowledge of and skill to manage some of the higher-level tasks in the LMS.

· Manages staff, conducts performance evaluations, and supports staff for improved performance.

· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

· Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Education, Instructional Design or in a related field plus five to seven (5 – 7) years of experience as an Training Manager or in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Demonstrated working knowledge of eLearning and design tools such as Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline and Rise, Camtasia, Vyond

· Experience packaging and uploading content to a Learning Management System, QA testing, and troubleshooting as needed.

· Excellent technical writing skills, including the ability to write concise, creative, and effective instructional materials.

· Demonstrated use of multiple learning methods and linking appropriate methods with learners and outcomes.

· Ability to work on a fast-paced team and build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders while balancing multiple priorities.

· Ability to oversee and work projects with minimal supervision.

· Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners.

· Demonstrated experience conducting needs assessment on projects where new learning and development activities are anticipated.

· High level of expertise in contemporary adult learning concepts and a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

· Experience leading projects through Instructional Design lifecycles (ADDIE and SAM)

· High level of proficiency in MS Office Suite.

· Commitment to Quality Standards and continuous improvement.

· Ability to directly manage a team of 3 to 5 Trainers

· Prior Security, Military, or Law enforcement experience is preferable but not required.

· Prior experience in the Aviation industry is preferred but not required. ACE - Security certification will be required within the first year of employment.

· Training certification through Georgia State Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies will be required within the first 3 months.

• Facilitate training curriculum to both current and newly hired teammates.• Identify individual and organizational training needs; develop and implement training plan to improve program. • Assist with the designs and implementation of learned objectives and curriculum.• Determine appropriate learning methodologies and assists in developing tools to assess the quality and effectiveness of training programs.• Identify and conduct new-hire training, credentialing training, certification training, CPR, drivers training, first aid, OSHA training, post cross-training, radio procedure training, and any necessary sustainment training.• Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of training content and programs; make recommendations to operations team.• Conducts verbal and written observation tests and assessment tests, as needed.• Assists in developing, gathering, and analyzing data in tracking and identifying learning solutions.• Manage the maintenance of training records.• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all posts and proven ability to lead Training personnel.• Communicate effectively with diverse people including clients or their representatives, client employees, visitors, or client vendors.• Comprehends and executes written or verbal instructions.• Writes accurate, clear, and legible reports via electronic device.• Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, client staff members and other client vendors.• Maintains a functional knowledge of a facility and, where applicable, of multiple facilities.• Enforces and abides by all policies and guidelines of the client and HSS a Tarian company.• Performs other duties at the direction of leadership.• May perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completed High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum Age Requirement 21+
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable licenses or certifications
  • Strong vision abilities including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for an entire work shift, move or lift objects up to 80 lbs., help restrain or lift a person
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Tarian Group's driving guidelines if applicable (for Driving Roles)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENTWork hours will vary depending on assignments, client schedules, project deadlines, and the needs of the company. Workweeks may exceed 40 hours and may involve any of the 7 days of the week, depending on the needs of the business. The work environment may be fast-paced and stressful or may also be quiet and slow-paced.  All environments and pace of work will require alertness and ability to perform under pressure.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk for variable amounts of time throughout an assigned shift; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects 25 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequently engages in mental concentration, analysis, and formulation.
