About the Role

Reporting to the Animal Facility Supervisor/Manager, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the Bioresources Centre. You'll be responsible for the care and husbandry of laboratory animals while supporting researchers with approved studies in a safe, ethical and well-managed environment.

Salary: BU1 - BU4 ($59,207.20 - $66,170.00) per annum, pro rata for part time.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily husbandry, health monitoring and welfare assessments of laboratory animals.

• Clean, prepare and maintain animal housing, cages and equipment.

• Perform cage changing and facility sanitation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and PC2 requirements.

• Assist with breeding colony management and animal identification.

• Support researchers with approved animal handling and research procedures.

• Maintain accurate animal records using electronic management systems.

• Monitor environmental conditions and report facility or equipment issues.

• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, animal ethics requirements and relevant legislation.

• Contribute to a safe, collaborative and well-organised workplace.

About You

You'll bring:

• Experience handling and caring for laboratory rodents.

• A sound understanding of animal welfare standards and biosecurity practices.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.

• A Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Laboratory Animal Technology (or an equivalent qualification) is desirable.
