Electrical Primary Engineer - Energy

What you’ll do
As an Electrical Primary Engineer in our Energy team based in Perth, you’ll contribute to projects and programs that make a real difference and be part of a team that embraces challenges, welcomes diverse ideas, and engineer solutions with people and outcomes in mind.
Deliver high-voltage substation primary designs up to 330kV, including layouts, general arrangements, and key electrical diagrams
Specify and select primary plant equipment, including transformers, switchgear, instrument transformers, surge arresters, and busbar systems
Perform engineering studies and calculations across areas such as earthing, insulation coordination, lightning protection, and conductor design
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, reliable, and constructable solutions for utility, mining, and infrastructure clients
Lead technical reviews, support design approvals, and provide engineering input through construction, testing, and commissioning phases
Apply Western Power, Australian Standards, and relevant industry requirements to deliver compliant and high-quality outcomes
What you’ll bring
A degree in Electrical Engineering and experience delivering HV substation primary design projects within Australia
Proven capability in substation design, equipment specification, and engineering calculations for transmission and distribution networks
Experience working to Western Power requirements and/or delivering projects for utility, mining, or industrial network operators
Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to prepare design reports, specifications, and client-facing documentation
A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams
Experience managing competing priorities while delivering quality outcomes for clients and stakeholders
