Position Summary
The Driver / PDI Equipment Associate is responsible for safely transporting lawn mowers and outdoor power equipment between company locations, customers, and vendors. This position also assists with Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) of new equipment to ensure products are assembled, inspected, tested, and ready for sale or delivery. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and committed to providing excellent support to store operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Driving & Equipment Transfers
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload lawn mowers, utility equipment, and related products between company locations.
- Deliver equipment to customers and pick up equipment as needed.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate delivery and transfer documentation.
- Ensure all loads are properly secured and transported in compliance with safety regulations.
- Keep company vehicles clean and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Perform PDI inspections on new lawn mowers and outdoor power equipment.
- Assist with assembly, setup, and preparation of equipment for sale or delivery.
- Check fluid levels, tire pressure, battery condition, safety features, and overall equipment operation.
- Test equipment to ensure proper performance and factory specifications are met.
- Install accessories and attachments as required.
- Document completed inspections and report any issues to management or service personnel.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe yard and showroom environment.
- Support inventory movement and equipment organization.
- Help load and unload incoming shipments.
- Assist customers and coworkers as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- Experience driving trucks and towing trailers preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with lawn mowers or outdoor power equipment preferred.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality required.
- Forklift/Loader Certified
- Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely load and unload equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb on and operate lawn mowers and other outdoor power equipment.
- Combination of driving, warehouse, shop, and outdoor work environments.
- Exposure to noise, dust, fuel, and weather conditions.
- Occasional overtime may be required during peak seasons.
