Job Summary
A Dental Hygiene Assistant supports the dental hygienist in providing preventive oral healthcare services. This role involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting during hygiene procedures, sterilizing instruments, maintaining patient records, and ensuring patients are comfortable throughout their visit. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and organize instruments before patient appointments
- Assist the dental hygienist during cleanings, periodontal procedures, and other preventive treatments
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines
- Escort patients to treatment rooms and help them feel comfortable
- Update and maintain accurate patient records and medical histories
- Take and process dental X-rays (where permitted by state regulations and certification)
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques as directed by the hygienist or dentist
- Stock treatment rooms and monitor inventory of dental supplies
- Schedule appointments and assist with front office duties as needed
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Hygiene Assisting experience is highly preferred
- Experience with front office duties is a plus
Knowledge of Dentrix software
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
- Ideal Certifications: Coronal Polishing, EFDA, N2O, Radiology, and RDA
