Job Description:
The General Manager combines leadership and industry expertise to develop future Next Door by Wegmans leaders while overseeing restaurant operations. This hands-on role requires strong communication, a positive and results-driven mindset, and a focus on financial performance to deliver an exceptional guest experience, foster employee growth, and sustain a strong restaurant culture.
What You'll Do
- Manage employee performance development by providing training, resources, feedback and growth opportunities
- Interview and select talented, knowledgeable team members
- Foster a safe, inclusive workplace built on communication and accountability
- Lead the team in delivering exceptional hospitality, ensuring guests feel welcomed, valued, and cared for throughout their visit
- Ensure operational excellence through proper staffing, high culinary standards, and exceptional guest service
- Address guest feedback and concerns to build loyalty and repeat visits
- Oversee private dining and event operations, partnering with guests, vendors, and restaurant teams to ensure seamless planning and execution
- Monitor inventory accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and maintain reliable reporting to drive operational and financial success
Requirements
- Experience as a General Manager in a high-volume fine dining and/or upscale restaurant or hotel
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Genuine interest in and understanding of food, beverage, and hospitality offerings
- Proven leadership experience overseeing P&L performance, hiring and developing teams, and private event execution
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in a fine-dining or upscale restaurant in a resort or hotel setting
- Experience working with a POS/Product Management System
- Effectively deal with all levels of people
