Job Purpose
This exciting role reflects the evolution of our business in the dynamic EV charging market across Passenger Cars and Trucks. The role holder is accountable for commercialisation of assets / EV chargers and for optimal site utilisation. They own meeting and exceeding our goals for sessions per day, KWHs per session, customer site experience and overall commercial optimisation of our network.
The role holder will be an active “player / manager” who leads by example, is able to jump between their asset/site-level performance and customer behaviours to make data-led decisions that drive positive customer and commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Accountable for the commercial performance of the UK pulse network, balancing customer, market, trading and commercial levers to build preferential propositions and position in the highly driven EV Charging market.
Accountable for the UK portfolio of EV chargers / sites for passenger cars and trucks, from site launch through to in-life success in RUN phase. [Operations & Maintenance sits outside this role; however, it remains a critical factor to influence.]
Accountable for Session numbers, KWH per session, Site profitability, Site score on Google/online, Customer site experience and demand-led Gross Margin.
Accountable for RUN performance management across volume & value benchmarks including propositions, subscriptions, promotions and working closely with Demand Partnership team, Pricing and Marketing.
Accountable for understanding and tracking site by site, charger by charger and partner by partner level performance and then defining and delivering any trading interventions to stimulate performance & growth.
Accountable for finding opportunities to drive site / charger-level performance, for example;
Working with MarComms to deliver targeted marketing to drive utilisation, i.e. a localised by-site or customer-segment offer.
Working with the Partnership team to identify, win and deliver specific partners.
Working with the Pricing & COGs team to ensure rates which balance UGM and utilisation [sessions per day].
Owning all publicly available information available to a customer pre-site visit to optimise their experience, i.e. photos, reviews, GPS location information, etc.
Accountable for Host Management [landowners], owning all host relationships in RUN phase with the intention to grow or optimise and bring demand to the network where possible.
Responsible for Session assumptions and Commercial sign-offs for any new sites during the Functional Assurance phase of new real-estate investments.
Build accurate forecasts and achieve the account(s) targets: turnover, market share, profit. Report weekly on performance vs prior year and targets, translating financial metrics into consumer behaviours.
Responsible for creating, building and demonstrating a cross-functional virtual team which enables network optimisation.
Line management responsibilities, with remit to scale the team as required through creation of cases to secure incremental spend/budget.
Ensure quality of execution and tracking down to a granular level (e.g. driver cohort, site location). Suggest plan adaptations when needed.
Share account perspective, risks and opportunities with wider teams.
Monitor competitors’ activities.
Knowledge & Experience
Proven experience in trading, commercial management, proposition development or offer management, or a similar commercial position.
Very strong data awareness, logic and action orientation required.
Experience of managing and improving customer journeys to maximise margin / conversion.
Strong experience of employing the marketing mix and actively and positively pulling Marketing levers.
Proven track record of growing profitable business with partners, ideally in a Telco, FMCG or other B2B, B2B2C environment.
Strong commercial competence & deep consumer centricity; experience connecting data to behaviours.
Excellent analytical skills to drive insight from data. Proficient in Excel.
Good communication and presentation skills; can translate performance into compelling leadership narratives.
Supervising performance excellence, skilled at finding the root causes of issues and opportunities.
Experience delivering offers and propositions into both B2B and B2C customer bases.
Experience of working with key/strategic accounts, how to handle and grow them and how to identify the right partners.
Highly developed communication skills; listening, understanding, empathising, solving, advising, acting.
Must be a concise communicator, able to explain the situation/requirements and build consensus and momentum to resolve issues.
Strong confidence and leadership, with an ambitious approach to continual improvement, adept at collaboration but not afraid of delivering or receiving constructive critique.
Ability to network internally and externally.
Able to take control of, define ways forward and create calmness in highly ambiguous and multifaceted environments.
Comfortable challenging all levels of the organization to ensure on-time, on-cost and on-specification delivery of requirements/propositions/campaigns.
Ability to provide a structured and logical approach to sophisticated problems, with excellent core problem-solving ability.
Positive personality, with an energetic leadership style and strong resilience.
A good balance of structured/comprehensive thinking with a fast-moving and pragmatic approach to ensure quick delivery.
Proven track record of performing in high-intensity environments, operating within tight financial resources and meeting demanding deadlines.
Proven success leading and delivering sophisticated, cross-functional projects / programmes.
Education, Qualifications & Certifications
BA / BSc / BEng or above preferred but track record of commercial target delivery, customer satisfaction and strategy definition and delivery is crucial.
