Join our team! Galloway Ridge is an upscale continuing care retirement community located between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro in Chatham County, NC. The Medication Tech / CNA position is responsible to prepare and administer medications as directed by the charge nurse. Assist the professional staff by performing various resident care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the residents. Responsible for the delivery of resident care (baths, personal grooming, feeding) as directed by the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, RN, or LPN. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Strives to incorporate the philosophy and mission of the facility and to incorporate the facility's goal of quality care in a personal manner with total regard for individual human dignity.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Accurately administers prescribed medications.
- Provides personal care assistance to residents with ADLs as directed and needed (bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting).
- Prepares resident for meals, serves and collects trays, assists in setting up and feeding residents, serves fresh water and nourishments when indicated, and records amount consumed.
- Helps residents with transferring and lifting, raising residents in beds and turning.
- Obtains vital signs on residents whose medical conditions warrants such monitoring. Obtains urine samples, weights, intake/output, empties foley catheter bags.
- Regularly checks on residents insuring comfort, dignity and privacy; responds to call bells promptly; makes sure call bell is within reach.
- Performs related Medication Aide duties as assigned for efficient unit operation.
- Prepares resident room for admission. Responsibilities include orienting resident to room, providing admission pack supplies, assisting resident with dressing as indicated, restocking resident rooms.
- Attends all in-services and meetings as required, serves on committees as assigned.
- Cleans each unit as assigned by the Director, including IV poles, ice bucket/ladle, wheelchair/carts, bedpans, basins.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Responds to community calls as needed. All other duties assigned include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.
Requirements
- Two years of experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, including some long-term care experience.
- Awareness of the needs of geriatric residents.
- Ability to calculate figures related to medication dosages and amounts as percentages and area.
