Mechanical Technician, Kirkbymoorside
Forum Energy Technologies (FET) is a world leader for the supply of Work Class ROVs (Remotely Operated
Vehicles), Observation Class ROVs, Trenchers and Submarine Rescue Systems providing innovative solutions
for challenging deep water intervention operations. Design and manufacture of these systems is based at
the facility at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire which is part of a worldwide company with headquarters in
Houston, USA. These products are known worldwide for unrivalled quality and technical excellence utilising
a wealth of experience, delivering products that perform reliably in hostile environments.
Job purpose: Assemble mechanical/hydraulic components, subassemblies and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities: (Key Tasks)
• Mechanical assembly of subsea products.
• Load testing of subsea equipment.
• Manufacture and testing of hydraulic hoses and pipe work.
• Assembly, proof pressure, setup and function testing of wide range of subassemblies and tooling.
• Interface with other departments to ensure high standards are maintained and project deadlines are met.
• Complete all necessary documentation, (including quality requirements, timesheets, NCR’s ECN…etc.).
• Carry out workshop maintenance.
• Carry out tasks safely using good working practices and maintain high quality standards.
• Ensure risk assessments are present and followed.
• Ensure good housekeeping.
• Other duties as assigned. Accountabilities: (Deliverables)
• Assembly of ROV products consisting of structural components, hard pipe and hose manufacture, sub- assemblies and tooling.
• Ensure completion of projects as scheduled and budgeted; and maintain high standards of quality.
Education/Qualifications (desirable):
• Secondary education preferred.
• Shop floor Mechanical apprentice background preferred.
Technical Competencies (essential):
• Ideally suited to an automotive mechanic background.
• Understanding of Mechanical assembly and practice.
Key Skills (essential):
• Must have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Must be competent in the use of basic hand and power tools.
• Must be hard working, able to work well under pressure while maintaining standards.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and follow test specifications.
• Willingness to learn with in house training. Experience (desirable):
• 2/3 years post apprenticeship experience
QHSE Competencies:
• Maintain behaviour in compliance with Forum HSE requirements.
• Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour.
• Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate Supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk.
