Job Summary

Candescent is hiring a Design Manager to lead the Consumer and Banking Foundations design team in India. This team owns the core experiences that 1,300+ financial institutions and millions of end users rely on every day: authentication, account access, dashboard, accounts and transactions, servicing, alerts, and the foundational patterns that every other Votiv experience builds on. 
 

You will manage a team of product designers, partner directly with US and India-based product, engineering, and research leaders, and be accountable for the quality, consistency, and delivery velocity of the Consumer portfolio. This role replaces the current Consumer design lead and is a critical leadership seat in our global design org

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

Team leadership 

• Manage, coach, and grow a team of product designers based in India . 
• Set clear expectations, quality bars, and career paths aligned to the Candescent design leveling framework . 
• Run team rituals: critique, portfolio reviews, 1:1s, and design QA 
• Partner with Design Operations on hiring, onboarding, and capacity planning. 

Design delivery 

• Own end-to-end design quality for Consumer and Banking Foundations experiences across web and mobile
• Ensure your team ships against the Votiv CV1 roadmap, including PI 26.3 and PI 26.4 commitments 
• Uphold the "monitor vs. act" principle for AI-surfaced experiences and functional parity+ as the CV1 experience standard 
• Drive design accountability inside Radiance (dual-track agile): named owners, Figma links in Jira, discovery treated as first-class work 

Cross-functional partnership 

• Partner with Consumer product leaders, engineering VPs, and the Design Systems team (CDS) on roadmap, scope, and architectural decisions 
• Represent design in PI Planning, portfolio reviews, and cross-team dependency conversations 
• Collaborate closely with Research and Insights to ground decisions in evidence 

Strategy and craft 

• Contribute to the Consumer design strategy and long-range vision 
• Champion adoption and contribution to the Candescent Design System
• Raise the bar on visual, interaction, and content design across your team's surfaces 

Qualifications and Experience

• 8+ years of product design experience, with 3+ years managing designers directly. 
• Proven track record shipping consumer-facing digital products at scale, ideally in fintech, banking, or another regulated industry 
• Strong portfolio demonstrating both craft and team-led outcomes 
• Experience operating in an agile environment with distributed product and engineering teams 
• Excellent written and verbal English; comfortable working across US and India time zones 
• Fluent in Figma and modern design system practices 

Preferred Distinctions

• Experience designing for community banks, credit unions, or mid-market financial institutions 
• Familiarity with SAFe or similar scaled agile frameworks 
• Experience integrating AI-driven capabilities into consumer experiences 
• Prior experience building or leading a design team in India
