About the role:

Alcoa is looking for a Senior Capital Projects Manager. In this role, you will support the development and execution of major capital projects across the Americas by strengthening project leadership, construction execution readiness, and capital governance discipline across the regional portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Project Delivery – Americas, this senior position combines strategic regional oversight with high-level execution leadership, ensuring that key initiatives progress effectively through the Front-End Loading (FEL) lifecycle and execution phases, while remaining fully aligned with approved scope, cost, schedule, and Alcoa’s global safety and governance standards. Operating in complex environments, including mining, refining, and smelting facilities, the Project Delivery Manager will oversee a high-value portfolio of major capital programs, typically exceeding US$25 million TIC.

Other responsibilities of the role include:

• Control project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.

• Support operational integration, commissioning, and project handover.

• Conduct strategic site visits in Brazil, the Americas, and Europe to monitor construction progress, validate safety, and mitigate relevant risks.

• Support project teams in resolving construction challenges and improving contractor performance.

• Participate in and facilitate independent reviews, following up on resulting action plans.

• Identify strategic and tactical risks and opportunities that may impact capital project delivery.

• Capture and share lessons learned, promoting consistent practices and continuous improvement across governance processes and frameworks.

What you can bring to the role:     

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

• Postgraduate degree, PMP certification, or certifications such as CCM and AACE will be considered important differentiators.

• Advanced English is required, and advanced Spanish is desirable;

• Broad experience in engineering, project management, construction execution, and capital governance.

• Strategic leadership in major industrial capital projects, generally exceeding US$25 million TIC.

• Practical knowledge of FEL processes, stage-gate governance, and construction execution practices.

• Experience in complex, multi-site industrial environments, such as mining, metals, refining, energy, or large-scale manufacturing.
