Head Start Director

Action Inc. is seeking an exceptional educator to lead its Head Start Program, where every child is given the opportunity to begin school healthy, confident, and ready to succeed. Key Responsibilities

· Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team of approximately 40 staff, creating a culture built on trust, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

· Ensure the Head Start program remains fully compliant with all federal Head Start Performance Standards and grant requirements.

· Oversee all aspects of program operations, including education, health, nutrition, transportation, family engagement, enrollment, and special services.

· Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Fiscal Department while ensuring responsible stewardship of public funds.

· Build strong partnerships with families, community organizations, and local agencies to strengthen services for children.

· Support, coach, and develop managers and staff while fostering professional growth and high-quality service delivery.

· Collaborate with the Policy Council, Executive Leadership Team and community partners.

· Ensure safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facilities that provide an exceptional learning environment for children.

Requirements

At least a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

· Experience in staff supervision, non-profit budget management, and program administration, consistent with the Head Start Program Performance Standards.

· Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team.

· Strong organizational, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships with staff, families, Policy Council, governing bodies, and community partners.

· Ability to interpret and implement federal regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, and organizational policies.

· Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality, early childhood services.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic data management systems.

· Valid Montana driver's license with an insurable driving record.
