MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide.
Job Purpose
Assists in the preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting requirements of the company, which encompass both external (SEC-format) and internal management reporting. Participates in the overall consolidation and closing process for MRC’s domestic and international legal entities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive)
Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports: these reports include the annual (10-K), quarterly (10-Q), and periodic (8-K) reports that are required (in SEC-format).
Assist in the preparation of monthly internal management and CEO reports.
Assist in the preparation of Board of Directors and Board Committee materials.
Participate in the integration of North American and International internal and external reporting.
Review and analyze U.S. GAAP adjustments that may be required as part of international acquisitions.
Review and analyze GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
Perform account reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
Research to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions/technical accounting issues.
Assist with the implementation of emerging accounting guidance (i.e., IFRS convergence).
Establish excellent rapport with management, corporate employees, branch employees, vendors, and customers using written correspondence, proper phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills.
Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job.

Education, Experience & Ability Requirements
Any combination of requirements that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities will be considered.
Undergraduate degree in accounting.
5 years of progressive accounting /finance experience.
Proven ability to develop relationships across departments and to work with global teams as both a leader and a participant.
Proven ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks in an environment of changing priorities.
Ability to contribute to the quality process by learning new procedures and functions within the department as needed.
Strong analytical skills and knowledge of GAAP, able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, suggest alternatives, and drive positive change.
Comprehensive familiarity with financial computer programs, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Personal and professional integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner.
Additional Qualifications
Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.
Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and respond to inquiries.
Ability to understand and comply with MRC Global guidelines & expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
