Description
The City of Chandler Communications and Public Affairs Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Digital Media Journalist (Part-Time, Temporary, Non-benefited). This position serves at the discretion of the department director. The position is scheduled to 19 hours a week.
Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

This position is housed in the Video Division within the City of Chandler’s Communications and Public Affairs Department. The Digital Media Division is committed to connecting the community and the city; learning about everything Chandler has to offer through the diverse experiences, voices and photos of our Chandler community. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in news reporting, script writing, on-air talent, videography, editing, photography and podcast production. Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or currently pursuing a degree in journalism, mass communications, media studies or a related field
- Six (6) months of experience with digital media production, digital media photography or social media content development
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Desired qualifications
- Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Proficiency with professional video equipment (DSLR and mirrorless cameras)
- Ability to source contacts and resources independently
- Ability to break down complex information into clear and compelling stories.
- Ability to shoot and edit content for multi-platform delivery
- Ability to create basic graphics for videos and thumbnails
- Comfortable working as on-air talent
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of a project from conception and completion.
