Job Description:
As part of the Technology & Innovation Team in the role of Scientist, you will develop and evaluate low-carbon construction materials, with a focus on innovative Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) for mortar and concrete applications. We are looking for a hands-on scientist with expertise in SCMs, cement chemistry, concrete technology, material characterization and standardized testing protocol.
You enjoy translating research into practical solutions, collaborating across disciplines, and driving innovation from laboratory development through scale-up and commercialization.
Your Impact in This Role
You will take the lead in mid to long term Technology & Innovation projects to drive innovation in low-carbon cements and advanced Supplementary Cementitious Materials. You will play a key role in advancing next-generation low-carbon cementitious solutions by combining applied research, experimental testing, data-driven insights and cross-functional collaborations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and execute experimental programs, including mix design, DOE development, and performance evaluations.
- Generate technical insights through data analysis and material characterization to optimize low-carbon cementitious solutions.
- Evaluate mechanical, rheological, and durability performance of sustainable concrete systems.
- Support scale-up from laboratory research to pilot trials and commercial implementation in collaboration with internal and external partners.
What You Bring To The Table
- Ideally a PhD in Engineering with Chemistry, Materials Science, Geology or equivalent by experience,
- You must already have 2 to 5 years of practical industrial experience in building materials, cement and concrete or service/consultancy companies in that domain.
- You have proven client interface capabilities
- You have practical experience in construction applications, as well as good project management skills.
- You speak fluent English and ideally Dutch
- You must have the right to work in the Netherlands or Europe.
