About the role:
Gartner is seeking a talented and passionate Data Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for building the foundational data and services our Products and Insights Teams. You will closely collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists and Cloud teams to expand the reach and accuracy of our Agentic and Search Solutions. You are someone who doesn't just write code but understands the "why" behind every architectural decision—from choosing the right storage engine to optimizing search indexing and scaling machine learning solution.

What you’ll do:
Design & Development: Build and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance web services using Java or Python.
System Architecture: Apply deep knowledge of Data Structures, Algorithms, and Design Patterns to solve engineering challenges.
Data Engineering: Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines and integrate ML Engineering workflows into production environments.
Search & Storage: Optimize data retrieval using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch and various SQL/NoSQL storage engines.
Collaboration: Act as a key contributor within an Agile/Scrum framework, collaborating with product managers and other engineers to deliver end to-end features.

What you’ll need:
Must have: 2–4 years of professional experience in the IT industry.
Core Engineering: Strong command of Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) and SOLID design principles.
Backend Mastery: Proven experience developing production-scale, customer-facing web services (Python).
Data & ML: Practical experience with ETL/ELT processes and familiarity with Machine Learning Engineering (deploying and scaling models).
Storage: Proficiency across different storage engines (Relational, Document, or Key-Value).

Nice to have/opportunity to learn:
Experience with Machine Learning or Agentic Workflows or AI-driven automation.
Cloud expertise, specifically in AWS (Lambda, EC2, RDS, S3 etc.).
Hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
