At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.

  • We’re looking for an inspiring Senior Training and Quality Coordinator to join our fundraising team.

  • Our fundraising teams are essential to our Engage Strategy through engaging with the public in deep and meaningful ways, ultimately growing Cancer Research UK’s fundraising and income capabilities to fund and raise awareness for our life-saving research.

  • Our UK-wide network of Face-to-Face Fundraisers generate millions for the charity each year, but they would not be able to achieve this without the right training and compliance monitoring.

  • This is a unique opportunity where you will play an impactful role in supporting the Training & Compliance Managers, external suppliers & agencies, and fundraising teams to develop, implement, and manage the quality and compliance monitoring of our face-to-face campaigns.

  • This role will be both desk-based and ‘in the field’ meaning no day will be the same and you’ll discover something new every day. For example, some days you will be designing and delivering training to our fundraisers both in-person across the UK and virtually; shadowing fundraisers onsite; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, and agencies; developing engagement tools and materials, supporting on the delivery of mystery shopping programmes, identifying trends and improvements, contributing to the team’s strategy, and many more.

  • This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in a face to face fundraising role, or someone with extensive experience in a customer facing sales role, who enjoys travel and communicating with a diverse group of stakeholders.

  • You'll also be surrounded by people as dedicated to beating cancer as you are.

What will I be doing?

  • Delivering the day-to-day training, engagement and quality monitoring programmes for Cancer Research UK’s Face-to-Face Fundraisers, including but not limited to:

  • Delivering inspiring training presentations to fundraisers across the UK and virtually, communicating CRUK’s work, including scientific research and compliant behaviours, in an easy-to-understand approach.

  • Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to plan and deliver training activities, field visits and fundraiser engagement initiatives.

  • Design, develop and continuously improve training, engagement and support materials, including presentations, videos, engagement modules and recognition initiatives.

  • Support the delivery of integrated fundraising campaigns and contribute to the ongoing development of the Training, Quality Monitoring and Engagement Strategy.

  • Monitor fundraising standards and compliance through observations, mystery shopping, call sampling and field-based assessments, providing coaching and feedback where needed.

  • Manage and resolve complaints relating to face-to-face fundraising activity, identifying themes and ensuring learning is embedded into future practice.

  • Analyse compliance, training and mystery shopping data to identify trends, produce insights and recommend improvements to fundraiser performance and supporter experience.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training and compliance programmes, sharing recommendations and best practice with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

What are we looking for?

  • A background of working in training, compliance or fundraising (this could include experience within a customer facing sales role), with strong training, facilitation, presentation skills to individuals and groups of people, and ideally with an ability to coach face to face fundraisers in the field.

  • Strong planning, organisational and analytical skills with an ability to work autonomously while managing multiple changing priorities and tasks.

  • Resilient, flexible, comfortable with uncertainty and changing priorities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in communicating with diverse audiences and conveying key messages in an effective and inspiring way.

  • Proactive and inspiring communicator, with the ability to be an excellent ambassador for the charity

  • An ability to build and maintain collaborative stakeholder relationships with an ability to influence, motivate, and negotiate with suppliers and internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Word.

  • Able to travel across the UK (This role will require regular travel, at least 2 days per week).

  • Ideally has knowledge and understanding of charity fundraising best practices & legislation in line with the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.

  • This is desirable meaning we would welcome applicants who have experience of working in alternative industries and specialisms, where activity has to be delivered in accordance to industry regulated standards.
