PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Unit Secretary is non-licensed person who performs clerical unit tasks in Diagnostic Imaging as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform clerical/reception duties in the Radiology Department.
- Answer telephone; take and relay messages.
- Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality.
- Greet and direct patients.
- Understanding of Hospital Information System.
- Understanding of the Radiology Information System.
- Understanding of PACS system.
- Able to schedule patients.
- Able to explain preps to patients.
- Understanding of HIPPA guidelines.
- Able to make CDs of patient's images.
- Able to send images to both cloud systems.
- Assist in care and maintenance of departmental equipment.
- Attend in service and other meetings as required. Attendance of 50% of all department meetings is required.
- Must adhere to hospital dress code.
- Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Typing and filing skills are desired.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 12 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
