Northrop Grumman Space Systems sector is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer or Principal Software Engineer / Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our GWS Program as a member of the Change Management Team. The location for this position is Huntsville, AL.
The selected candidate will serve in a Change Management Systems Engineering role with a strong focus in management of external and organic program change, business growth opportunities, and proposals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
In this role, you’ll help convert new mission needs into executable program scope and proposals, directly supporting the Missile Defense Agency’s critical mission of defense of the homeland.
You will serve in a Change Management Systems Engineering role that blends technical depth with proposal development, program management, and business development. You’ll work closely with internal leadership and the MDA customer to develop technical and programmatic solutions as well as manage program change that drives business growth to support the MDA mission.
Proposal & Change Action Leadership
Lead, develop, analyze, and present program cost and programmatic change requests Ex: firm proposals, Not-To-Exceed proposals, Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM)) from conception through submission
Provide servant leadership to internal and external stakeholders
Lead proposal development activities, to include analyzing scope and technical documentation, soliciting and compiling input from program teams, and composing proposal artifacts such as risk and opportunity registers, upper management signoff packages, cost estimation and pricing analysis, as well as schedule and program execution analysis
Technical & Programmatic Analysis
Analyze technical and programmatic requirements, recommend solutions, and present findings to both MDA and internal NG leadership.
Support organizing, analyzing, and managing the program’s technical and programmatic baseline
Analyze and present insights on technical, execution, and programmatic implications of new business, and new scope applicable to the GWS program
Gain broad exposure to program financials, cost/schedule trade studies, and business development strategy.
Estimation & Cost Modeling
Develop, analyze, and maintain systems and software estimation models, including basis of estimates (BOEs) development, analysis of program actuals, and software / HW / infrastructure parametric estimation models
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
Give presentations and answer questions to NG Leadership or Upper Management on led change action initiatives
Interface with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customers to converge on program and technical requirements related to change actions
Lead multidisciplinary teams in the development of proposals and programmatic solutions
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s STEM degree with 5 years of software, test, or systems engineering experience.
Ability to work independently and work proactively with rapidly changing tasking and priorities
Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, influence and champion change actions, and drive complex task closure in a rapidly changing environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical and programmatic content clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Highly motivated and an aptitude to learn and contribute to new business opportunities, technical and programmatic solutions, and proposal management
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical experience working in missile defense systems and a technical understanding of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System (MDS) architecture
Interest and aptitude in analyzing technical documentation such as interface documents, technical requirements documents, MDS Concept of Operations, and MDA technical memos
Experience in developing proposals, BOEs, or program / cost estimates
An understanding of program financial data, financial calculations, and estimation modeling techniques
Experience in or desired experience in growing knowledge in next generation technology application to MDS programs and business development opportunities
Experience verifying and building estimates with cost estimation models such as SEER-SEM, SW SLOC analysis, BOEs and / or material estimations
An understanding of Earned Value Management and its application to an Agile based program
