Duties, Responsibilities & Other

This is a field based position located near Columbus, NM.

Are you skilled with tools, comfortable working at heights, and looking for a hands-on field role with real variety? We're looking for a Lead Installation Technician to join our two-person field teams installing security infrastructure and pole-mounted equipment on utility poles. If you've got experience in telecom, low-voltage systems, security/CCTV, electrical work, or utility installation — and you're ready to lead a crew in the field — we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a two-person team building, mounting, and configuring pole-attached security equipment
  • Install cameras, Wi-Fi equipment, infrared illuminators, sensors, communications devices, brackets, and enclosures
  • Handle cable routing, termination, labeling, and connections
  • Perform basic electrical and low-voltage work
  • Troubleshoot equipment, power, and connectivity issues in the field
  • Read and follow installation drawings, work orders, and site plans
  • Inspect finished work for alignment, function, and quality
  • Keep accurate records, photos, and documentation for every job
  • Work safely from bucket trucks (up to 40 ft), ladders, and lifts
  • Travel to job sites as needed

What We’re Looking for

  • Experience in telecom, low-voltage, security systems, electrical, or utility field work
  • Comfort working outdoors and at heights
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, communication, and equipment issues
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow detailed procedures
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
  • Ability to work independently and lead a small field crew

Preferred Experience:

  • Pole attachment or utility infrastructure experience
  • CCTV/security camera installation
  • Fiber optic, coax, Ethernet, or structured cabling
  • Wi-Fi networking or comms equipment experience
  • Bucket truck, aerial lift, climbing, or fall-protection experience
  • OSHA, CPR/First Aid, or other safety certifications

This is an active, outdoor field role. You'll work in varying weather conditions, on uneven terrain, and around active construction. Expect time in a bucket truck up to 40 feet in the air, carrying equipment, and standing or walking for extended stretches. Safety comes first, always. We provide PPE (hard hats, safety vests, gloves, ear protection). You'll need to supply your own protective footwear and appropriate work attire.

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience

Education and/or Skills Preferred:

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License
