Description
General Summary:
Maintain a secure and safe environment at Rainbow Energy Center by protecting personnel, property, and critical infrastructure through vigilant monitoring and enforcement of site security protocols. Plays a critical role in maintaining safety, security, preventing unauthorized access, and responding to emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Takes ownership of and maintains a visible and proactive security presence across the facilities at Coal Creek Station, including the main office building and operational areas including the plant and yard.
- Monitors and controls access at all entry points to the facility through secured gates and checkpoints.
- Verifies identification and credentials of all employees, contractors, and visitors entering the site.
- Conducts regular patrols of the plant, perimeter, and other critical areas.
- Observes and reports any suspicious activity, safety hazards, or violations of site policies.
- Responds to alarms and incidents according to established procedures.
- Maintains detailed incident and shift reports.
- Monitors security cameras, electronic surveillance systems, and access controls.
- Ensures compliance with all Rainbow Energy Center safety and security protocols.
- Collaborates with plant personnel, emergency responders, and law enforcement as needed.
- Functions as part of Rainbow Energy Center’s emergency response team when there are incidents and injuries on site.
- Performs vehicle inspections and enforces parking regulations.
- Participates in regular safety and emergency response drills.
- Maintains a professional presence and promotes a culture of safety and vigilance.
- May be required to wear a respirator.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Job Criteria:
Education & Experience: Knowledge typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of one-year prior experience in industrial or facility security is preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and obtain and maintain EMT associated license and certifications, within one year of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge and skills to use basic personal computer applications.
- Skills in communication, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate.
- Skills and ability to provide a high level of customer service.
- Ability to read and follow written procedures and instructions.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects by utilizing strong organizational and time management skills to complete work in an efficient manner.
- Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and with others while following REC safety rules, certifications and procedures.
- Ability and responsibility to ensure security procedures are followed including immediate notification of potential incidents.

Working conditions will be indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions of extreme cold or heat. Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the plant and facility grounds. Conditions in the plant and facility grounds may include extreme temperatures, noise levels, and heights. There will be infrequent overnight travel, overtime and/or working weekends.
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 20-50 pounds frequently and lifting 51-75 pounds occasionally. The ability to climb, balance, work at heights and work with arms above your head occasionally up to frequently. Ability to occasionally up to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist and squat, work on even and uneven surfaces and ability to work occasionally in confined space areas. Ability to frequently push, pull, carry, grasp and finger objects. Subject to frequent vibration and hazards and on occasion exposed to fumes, dust or mist. Must be able to differentiate colors, speak and hear.
This position offers an opportunity to join the Rope Rescue Team. Prior rope rescue experience is considered a plus but is not a requirement for employment.
