Description

๐ŸŒYou never wanted to stop teaching. You just wanted more room to grow.

If you have spent the last few years in front of a class, you already know the part of the job that matters most โ€” the moment a learner finally gets it, and the quiet work behind that moment: the planning, the pacing, the reading of a room, the feedback that lands without deflating anyone.

This role takes everything you built in the classroom and points it at a bigger audience. Instead of one class at a time, you shape a whole team of online English teachers: you onboard them, coach them, watch them teach, and lift the standard of every lesson they deliver. Your impact stops being measured in one register and starts being measured across a client, a cohort, a country.

โœˆ๏ธAbout the role

As Onboarding & Performance Coach you own the teacher journey from first day to consistently strong performance. You are the person who turns a newly hired teacher into a confident, compliant, high-performing member of the team โ€” and the person who keeps them there.

You sit at the centre of recruitment, training, operations and the client. When a new cohort lands, you build their runway. When quality dips, you spot it in the data before anyone complains. When a teacher is struggling, you are in the lesson, in the feedback, and in the follow-up until it is fixed.

๐ŸŽฏWhat you'll actually be doing

1. Onboard new teachers and set them up to succeed

  • Design and run the onboarding journey for new teachers โ€” from platform training and client standards through to their first live lesson.
  • Build and manage onboarding schedules alongside Operations so every new joiner has a clear, realistic runway to being fully productive.
  • Write and maintain the SOPs, guides and quick-reference materials that make onboarding repeatable rather than reinvented every intake.
  • Be the first person a new teacher turns to when something breaks, confuses or intimidates them.

2. Coach teachers to be better than the day you met them

  • Run regular one-to-one coaching that is specific, evidence-based and actually changes what happens in the lesson.
  • Observe live lessons, give constructive feedback, and agree clear development actions โ€” then follow up on them.
  • Build development plans for teachers who are underperforming, and stretch plans for the ones ready for more.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting so a platform issue never becomes a teaching issue.

3. Own quality and compliance

  • Hold the line on teaching standards, client-specific requirements and company policy โ€” consistently, and without it feeling like policing.
  • Carry out lesson observations and quality checks against agreed standards, and keep calibration tight so scores mean the same thing from every reviewer.
  • Protect learner and client information at all times, in line with company policy and applicable regulations.
  • Keep accurate records, observation notes, coaching logs and performance documentation.

4. Turn performance data into decisions

  • Track team performance across service quality, productivity, client satisfaction and compliance.
  • Analyse feedback, satisfaction scores and quality results to find the trend behind the number โ€” not just report it.
  • Report to senior management on team performance, flag risks early, and bring recommendations rather than problems.
  • Use what the data tells you to redesign training, refresh coaching priorities and improve the service.

5. Be the bridge between teachers, operations and the client

  • Act as a secondary point of contact for the client, responding to queries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Work closely with Recruitment, Training and Operations so what the client needs and what the team delivers stay aligned.
  • Handle issues to resolution and escalate the ones that need it, quickly and with the full picture attached.

6. Keep teaching

A minimum of 20 teaching hours per month keeps you current on the client you support, close to the learner experience, and credible with the team you coach. Nobody takes feedback seriously from someone who has not taught in three years.

  • Teaching hours can be scheduled within your working hours as part of staying current on your client, or
  • Taken as additional paid teaching hours on top of your salary, if you want the extra earning potential.
  • You may also be asked to teach on other supported platforms from time to time โ€” useful exposure, and it keeps your range sharp.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a genuinely good teacher who is ready for a corporate role โ€” not someone leaving teaching, someone scaling it.

Essential

  • 3โ€“5 years of teaching experience โ€” classroom, online, or both. Teaching English to speakers of other languages is a strong advantage.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (degree in education, PGCE, TEFL/TESOL/CELTA or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience mentoring, coaching or supporting other teachers โ€” formally or informally.
  • The ability to give honest feedback that people act on rather than resent.
  • Comfort with numbers: you can read a performance report, spot the trend, and explain what you would do about it.
  • Strong written and spoken English, and the organisation to manage schedules, records and multiple priorities at once.
  • Confident with online teaching platforms and the usual troubleshooting that comes with them.
  • A reliable home working setup: stable internet, quiet space and a professional on-camera presence.
