Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. with occasional evening or weekend hours for events.
A day in the life of a Development & Family Engagement Specialist:
- Solicits, develops and maintains relationships with fundraising event sponsors and community partners.
- Coordinates and tracks sponsorships, monetary contributions, raffle and silent auction items, in-kind donations, and other contributions.
- Supports the planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns and other development activities.
- Maintains accurate records related to donors, sponsors, grants, and fundraising activities.
- Leads and coordinates annual membership recruitment, retention, and engagement efforts.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with families and members and serves as a staff liaison for family engagement activities.
- Coordinates and supports family advocacy initiatives and opportunities for families and members to participate in local, state, and agency advocacy efforts.
- Promotes membership, advocacy, and engagement opportunities through appropriate agency communication channels.
- Maintains accurate and current membership and family contact information.
- Plans, coordinates, and executes fundraising, internal, community, and third-party events.
- Assists with recruiting and coordinating volunteers for special events and other activities.
- Coordinates event-related sponsorship recognition, donations, promotional materials, and other logistical needs.
- Represents The Arc Wayne at community events and activities and promotes the agency's mission, programs, fundraising opportunities, membership, and advocacy efforts.
- Assists with written materials, correspondence, promotional materials, and communications related to development, membership, family engagement, and advocacy.
- Maintains confidentiality and accurate records.
- Keeps up-to-date mailing records for families, individuals The Arc Wayne supports, donors, employees, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field with one-year experience in fundraising, development, community engagement, public relations, marketing, membership development or event coordination OR Associate's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field with three years' experience in fundraising, development, community engagement, public relations, marketing, membership development, or event coordination.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid New York State Driver's License that meets Agency driver standard.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, self-direct, and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with donors, sponsors, families, members, volunteers, and community partners.
- Ability to solicit donations and sponsorships.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
