Position Summary:
Mesabi Metallics is seeking a Mechanical Planner – Pellet Plant. This role will oversee the planning and optimization of pellet plant maintenance to maximize efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. You will work closely with various teams to develop strategic plans and ensure that production and maintenance targets are met while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Coordinator –Pellet Plant Maintenance, the Mechanical Planner – Pellet Plant will be responsible for the following:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive production and maintenance plans for the pellet plant, ensuring alignment with overall operational goals and resource availability.
  • Create and maintain detailed schedules for pellet plant operations, including equipment usage, personnel assignments, and maintenance activities.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, performance metrics, and opportunities for improvement; make data-driven recommendations to optimize processes.
  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operational teams to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to meet production targets.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on pellet plant performance, production forecasts, and any deviations from plans to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of safety within the team.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity through process improvements and best practices.
Skills and Qualifications: 
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in planning or maintenance within a mining or mineral processing environment.
  • Proficient in planning and scheduling software and familiar with pellet plant operations and processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in managing cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering OR technical degree with relevant work experience.

Physical Requirements: 
  • This position requires some work in front of a PC, desk, and phone and regular field work.
  • Some lifting and strength required when working in the plant.
Salary :$110,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
