Company Description

Guardant Health is a leading precision oncology company focused on guarding wellness and giving every person more time free from cancer. Founded in 2012, Guardant® is transforming patient care and accelerating new cancer therapies by providing critical insights into what drives disease through its advanced blood and tissue tests, real-world data and AI analytics. Guardant tests help improve outcomes across all stages of care, including screening to find cancer early, monitoring for recurrence in early-stage cancer, and treatment selection for patients with advanced cancer. Guardant Health is seeking a strategic and customer-oriented Director, Health Information Technology (HIT) Solutions to lead the strategy, design, and evolution of Health Information Technology and digital workflow capabilities supporting Shield adoption across Health Systems.

This leader will connect customer needs, clinical and operational workflows, EMR/EHR integration, interoperability, data, digital capabilities, and emerging technologies to create scalable solutions that make Guardant easier to integrate, activate, measure, and expand.

The Director will serve as a senior customer-facing HIT thought leader and internal strategic partner across Health Systems, Enterprise Integration, Solution Success, Product, Data & Analytics, Operations, Medical, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, and other One Guardant partners.

The role moves Guardant beyond individual EMR implementations toward an enterprise HIT strategy: identifying common customer needs, determining where solutions should be standardized, configured, or co-developed, and translating learning from individual Health Systems into repeatable enterprise capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

HIT and Digital Strategy

  • Develop and continuously evolve the Health Systems HIT and digital solutions strategy aligned to Guardant's Health Systems priorities and customer needs.
  • Lead the Health Systems EMR / Digital Strategy & Optimization workstream, including roadmap, priorities, governance, cross-functional dependencies, and measures of success.
  • Maintain a forward-looking perspective on EHR/EMR capabilities, interoperability, FHIR, APIs, population health technology, digital quality measurement, analytics, AI, patient engagement, and emerging healthcare technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for technology to remove friction across the patient journey and accelerate patient identification, activation, screening completion, measurement, optimization, and scale.

Scalable Solution Design

  • Translate recurring customer challenges and workflow requirements into scalable HIT and digital solution approaches.
  • Establish frameworks for determining when Guardant should standardize, configure, or co-develop solutions.
  • Define solution architecture, requirements, design principles, and success criteria before implementation begins.
  • Convert account-level learning into reusable standards, workflows, playbooks, tools, and enterprise capabilities.
  • Identify systemic barriers across Health Systems and drive enterprise-level solutions rather than recurring account-by-account workarounds.

Customer HIT Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted HIT and digital-solutions advisor in strategic Health System engagements.
  • Partner with SAMs in conversations with CIOs, CMIOs, informatics, digital, population health, IT, analytics, clinical, and operational leaders.
  • Lead strategic discovery of customer technology environments, workflows, data capabilities, interoperability needs, constraints, and future-state priorities.
  • Translate technical complexity into clear clinical, operational, financial, customer, and patient implications.
  • Help customers envision how Guardant capabilities can integrate into their existing ecosystem rather than creating disconnected workflows.

Integration, Activation and Solution Success

  • Partner closely with EIMs, the Senior Manager of Solutions, and SSMs to ensure technical integration enables the intended workflow and business outcome.
  • Establish clear handoffs and operating models across solution design, technical implementation, workflow implementation, activation, measurement, and optimization.
  • Partner with Solution Success leadership to identify recurring workflow barriers and opportunities for standardized approaches.
  • Ensure HIT capabilities enable coordinated One Guardant activation across Sales, Medical, Marketing, Analytics, Operations, and other cross-functional partners.

Enterprise Capability Development

  • Create structured mechanisms for capturing customer and field HIT insights.
  • Translate recurring customer needs into roadmap and capability recommendations for Product, Data & Analytics, Operations, IT/Digital, and other partners.
  • Develop HIT tools, playbooks, discovery questions, decision frameworks, and best practices.
  • Build HIT fluency throughout Health Systems while enabling customer-facing teams to engage specialized HIT expertise at the appropriate point.
  • Coach and develop Enterprise Integration and Solution Success teams on strategic HIT concepts and customer engagement.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Health System information technology, clinical informatics, healthcare technology, digital health, enterprise solution architecture, interoperability, healthcare consulting, or a related field.
  • Significant experience working within or closely with complex Health Systems and IDNs.
  • Strong knowledge of EHR/EMR ecosystems and clinical and operational workflow integration.
  • Experience with HL7, FHIR, APIs, interfaces, and healthcare data exchange.
  • Understanding of population health, clinical data, analytics, patient identification and activation, and healthcare technology infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience translating customer needs into scalable enterprise technology or solution requirements.
  • Experience engaging credibly with CIO, CMIO, informatics, digital, IT, analytics, population health, clinical, and operational executives.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong executive communication, strategic thinking, and program leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Epic or other major EHR ecosystems, population-health technology, digital quality measurement, healthcare analytics, clinical decision support, digital patient engagement, AI-enabled healthcare solutions, laboratory or diagnostic integration, cancer-screening workflows, value-based care technology, or enterprise digital transformation.

AI & Digital Fluency

  • Demonstrate curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to critically evaluate and responsibly leverage AI-enabled tools in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of work.
