Carlton Bar & Steakhouse is looking for experienced Duty Managers to join the team.

We’re strengthening our Duty Manager pipeline ahead of upcoming team movements, as well as preparing for six months of maternity leave cover from September.

About the Role

As a Duty Manager, you’ll take the lead during your rostered shifts and help keep the venue running smoothly. You’ll work closely with the wider management team while supporting and developing our front-of-house team.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Overseeing day-to-day venue operations during rostered shifts

• Opening and closing the venue in line with company procedures

• Leading and supporting floor and bar teams throughout service

• Maintaining high service standards across the bar, restaurant and function spaces

• Managing staffing levels, breaks and delegation of duties

• Coaching and mentoring team members on shift

• Handling guest enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally

• Ensuring responsible service of alcohol and compliance with NZ liquor licensing requirements

• Managing incidents, intoxication, refusals of service and conflict appropriately

• Supporting stock control, cash handling, EFTPOS reconciliation and end-of-day reporting

• Assisting with events and functions as required

What We're Looking For

• Previous hospitality leadership or supervisory experience

• Current New Zealand Duty Manager Certificate

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Confidence leading teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment

• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills

• A hands-on, positive leadership style

• Reliability and flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays

• $27.70–$32.60 per hour, depending on experience
