Unleash your talent and redefine what’s possible.
Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a talented Cybersecurity Automation Architect to join our growing Cybersecurity Orchestration team!
In this role, you will serve as a senior technical leader focused on the design and development of cybersecurity automation and orchestration capabilities across the enterprise. You will help advance a central core of automation design and development that replaces time-consuming and labor-intensive repetitive tasks with scalable, resilient, and streamlined automated workflows. The architect must be able to identify areas of improvement and opportunities for automation, translate operational and security requirements into technical solutions, and develop reusable design patterns that accelerate future development. This is a hands-on technical role requiring the ability to provide solution-level design guidance while actively designing, developing, integrating, and troubleshooting complex automation solutions across source-code, low-code, and no-code environments. The role will work within established enterprise and cybersecurity architecture, standards, and governance rather than owning the underlying architecture. Key success criteria include creative problem solving, independent execution, scalable and maintainable solution design, technical leadership, and a clear understanding of responsible AI use to both empower developers and strengthen workflow capabilities.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Collaborating across the Parsons Cybersecurity organization to identify operational pain points, technical requirements, and opportunities for automated process improvements
- Designing cybersecurity automation solutions, including workflows, integrations, services, APIs, data flows, and AI-enabled capabilities, in alignment with established architecture and standards
- Developing and promoting reusable automation design patterns, frameworks, and development standards in coordination with cybersecurity and enterprise architecture teams
- Designing, developing, improving, and maintaining automated workflows which will: Replace or streamline existing manual processes, Enable workflows which were previously non-viable due to resource constraints or technical limitations, Reduce the time spent on mundane administrative and operational tasks, Provide Security Operations teams with more time to engage in proactive threat hunting, detection engineering, incident response, and other higher-value activities, Reduce future development and maintenance overhead through reusable and forward-thinking design
- Designing integrations between cybersecurity platforms and enterprise technologies using REST APIs, webhooks, event-driven architectures, messaging, and other integration methods
- Evaluating solution design tradeoffs between custom code, low-code/no-code orchestration, platform-native automation, and AI/agentic approaches within established architectural guardrails
- Designing and implementing AI-enabled and agentic automation with appropriate guardrails, validation, observability, human-in-the-loop controls, and responsible AI practices
- Providing technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, monitoring, and continuous improvement
- Performing hands-on development and troubleshooting of complex automation workflows, integrations, scripts, services, and supporting infrastructure
- Conducting design and code reviews to ensure automation solutions meet cybersecurity, reliability, maintainability, and scalability requirements
- Assisting and mentoring other developers and engineers with solution design, troubleshooting, training, development practices, and technical problem solving
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree, with additional years of experience able to count in lieu of a degree
- 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, software development, automation engineering, security engineering, solution design, or another field related to this position.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale automation, orchestration, or integration solutions.
- Experience with: Code/scripting development; Python experience preferred, REST APIs, webhooks, authentication mechanisms, and application integration patterns, Low-code visual workflow design using a solution such as Tines, Operations Orchestration, Appian, Salesforce Visual Flow, ServiceNow AppEngine, Zoho, NodeRed, etc., Use of AI in development environments to improve outcomes, Implementation of user-facing or headless back-end AI agents to provide reliable solutions to non-deterministic problems, Design considerations for AI and agentic systems, including permissions, data access, validation, observability, security boundaries, and human oversight, Debugging/troubleshooting complex code, integrations, APIs, or workflows, Creation and maintenance of technical design, workflow, integration, and operational documentation, Tracking work through Jira (or similar ticketing system), Usage of version-controlled code repositories
- Ability to translate high-level business or cybersecurity objectives into technical requirements, solution designs, implementation plans, and reusable solutions
- Detail-oriented and forward-thinking, proactive self-starter with excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple technical initiatives effectively
- Ability to consider a high-level goal, determine sub-tasks and pre-requisites, evaluate alternative approaches, then design and execute an effective plan to satisfy all requirements without extensive guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaborative skills; ability to convey complex solution designs and technical concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
- Experience designing cybersecurity automation solutions across technologies such as SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, identity and access management, vulnerability management, cloud security, threat intelligence, incident response, and security data platforms
- Comfortable with use of command line, Postman, or other similar tools to interact with API endpoints and implement custom connectors
- Experience working with Tines automation and orchestration design and development
- Experience designing event-driven, API-driven, and asynchronous automation solutions
- Experience with secure software development, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Proficiency with languages and solutions such as Go, .Net Framework, C#, JavaScript, PowerShell, AWS/Azure, SQL queries & stored procedures, Ansible, Jenkins, Semaphore, Git, Docker, etc.
- Experience designing reusable connectors, services, libraries, and integration frameworks that support multiple cybersecurity use cases
- Understanding of identity, authentication, authorization, secrets management, and service-to-service security as they apply to automated workflows and integrations
- Experience evaluating new automation and AI technologies and determining how they can be safely incorporated into an established enterprise cybersecurity environment
- Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring developers or engineers, and contributing to engineering and automation development standards
- Job experience in a cybersecurity field (SOC or SOC-adjacent team preferred)
- User interface/experience (UI/UX) design work history
