Senior Accountant and Operations Controller

Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Accountant and Operations Controller to oversee the finance and accounting operations of the Philippine entity.

This is a senior but execution-focused role responsible for financial reporting, statutory compliance, payroll review, audit support, and internal controls while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations, payments, reconciliations, and BIR filings.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary local finance contact, partnering closely with regional finance and local operations teams. The role also supports business operations through inventory management, process improvements, and the implementation of strong financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

Finance and Compliance

• Oversee the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities of the Philippine entity.
• Manage payments, bank reconciliations, journal entries, cash flow monitoring, and month-end closing activities.
• Prepare financial reports and reporting schedules for regional finance.
• Prepare, review, and submit BIR tax returns, withholding tax certificates, and other required statutory filings.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory requirements.
• Support SEC, local government, and other corporate compliance requirements.
• Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure timely submission of all statutory filings and payments.
• Review payroll computations, statutory deductions, and payroll-related payments.
• Serve as the primary finance contact during annual external audits and coordinate audit schedules and supporting documentation.

Operations and Inventory Support

• Partner with local operations teams to support day-to-day financial and administrative requirements.
• Monitor inventory movements, including receipts, transfers, issuances, returns, and damaged stock.
• Reconcile inventory records and collaborate with operations to resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in improving workflows to ensure finance processes effectively support business operations.
• Provide support on banking, supplier management, administrative, and operational matters as needed.

Internal Controls and Process Improvement

• Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls over payments, payroll, purchasing, inventory, and financial reporting.
• Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements to support business growth.
• Drive continuous improvements in financial systems, operational processes, and accounting procedures.
• Recommend and implement best practices to improve efficiency, compliance, and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA license is highly preferred.
• At least 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or Financial Controller.
• Strong knowledge of Philippine accounting standards, BIR regulations, taxation, and statutory compliance.
• Experience in month-end closing, financial reporting, payroll review, and external audit coordination.
• Strong bookkeeping and General Ledger accounting experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets; experience with Xero or similar accounting systems is an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional and regional teams.
