Aegon Asset Management is a leading global investor, our employees work from 13 locations across Europe, the Americas and Asia. We advise on assets for a global client base of pension plans, public funds, insurance companies, banks, wealth managers, family offices and foundations. We share a common belief in fundamental, research-driven active management, underpinned by effective risk management and a commitment to responsible investment.

Our people are our greatest asset, and we want Aegon Asset Management to be a place where they can bring their authentic self to work and do all they can to deliver on our strategic promises to our customers.

We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter.

As a Portfolio Risk Control Analyst, you will be responsible for monitoring mandate compliance across all portfolios managed by Aegon Asset Management UK on both a pre- and post-trade basis, ensuring adherence to client guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. You will investigate any exceptions, support their timely resolution, and proactively identify opportunities to reduce potential exceptions through effective monitoring and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor pre and post trade mandate compliance using the Aladdin order management system, investigating and resolving any compliance exceptions in a timely manner, escalating issues where appropriate.

  • Ensure compliance with all clients and Aegon Asset Management policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Support client onboarding activities and the implementation of new or amended mandates, and regulatory requirements, including their configuration within systems and processes.

  • Assist in the preparation of management information, committee, and client reporting.

  • Assist with the automation, enhancement, testing, and ongoing maintenance of compliance monitoring processes and systems.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.

  • Act as a point of contact, collaborating with colleagues to resolve queries, support business objectives, departmental and cross-functional projects.

  • Support the ongoing maintenance, review, and enhancement of operational controls, governance frameworks, and risk management procedures.

  • Ensure that all activities are carried out with the best interests of clients in mind, supporting fair customer outcomes and adherence to regulatory standards.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Degree educated (or equivalent), preferably in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or related discipline.

  • An interest and basic understanding in financial markets, investment management, risk, or regulatory compliance. Knowledge of investment products such as equities, fixed income, and derivatives would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with a range of stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach, with the ability to build positive working relationships across different teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Well-organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to agreed deadlines.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a proactive approach to taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities.

  • Naturally curious and eager to learn, with a willingness to ask questions, develop new skills, and continuously improve.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within financial services, or related industry would be advantageous but not essential.

  • Experience of BlackRock Aladdin or other investment compliance, order management, or portfolio management systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
