About This Role

The role is responsible for the safe erection, modification, inspection support and dismantling of scaffolding structures required for maintenance, construction, shutdown and operational activities across the mine site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely erect, modify and dismantle scaffolding structures in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
  • Inspect scaffolding components before use and report defective materials.
  • Ensure scaffolds are properly secured, braced, accessed and appropriately tagged before use.
  • Comply with all Working at Height, Permit-to-Work and fall-protection requirements.
  • Establish appropriate barricades and controls to prevent dropped-object incidents.
  • Support planned maintenance, plant shutdowns, projects and breakdown activities.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and ensure proper care and storage of scaffolding materials.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, risk assessments and other safety activities.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses and exercise Stop Work Authority where necessary.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

  • Minimum of Mechanical Engineering Technician Part II Certificate or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Mechanical Technician Certificate of Competency issued by the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
  • Recognized Scaffolding Competency Certification/Training.
  • Valid Working at Height training/certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years' practical scaffolding experience, preferably within mining, mineral processing, construction, oil & gas or heavy industry.
  • High attention to detail with an understanding that minor errors can lead to significant equipment failures.
  • Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and respect other people's values and opinions
