Key responsibilities include:
Leading complex problem-solving efforts across sub-assembly and final assembly processes, defining where and how issues are resolved
Driving DfX reviews and providing actionable design feedback to improve manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability
Directing multi-disciplinary teams and external partners in developing robust manufacturing processes and solutions
Establishing and guiding manufacturing strategies, including equipment selection, automation analysis, process development, and implementation
Influencing product and process decisions to ensure critical-to-quality requirements are consistently achieved at scale
Serving as a key member of the global Product Development Operations team, acting as a bridge between Mechanical Engineering and the manufacturing supply base
Partnering closely with Product Development to embed Design for Excellence (DfX) principles early in product concepting and architecture
Architecting complex assembly processes, including jigs and fixturing, to ensure precise alignment of design-critical components
Developing and scaling efficient, repeatable assembly processes across global suppliers and contract manufacturers, with deep expertise in areas such as adhesives, plastic welding, and fastening
Identifying and driving opportunities for automation and process optimization to improve efficiency, consistency, and cost
Building and maintaining strong relationships with global suppliers, integrators, and manufacturing engineering teams to enable seamless product introduction and continuous innovation
Leveraging deep manufacturing expertise to guide tolerance analysis and ensure robust assembly performance in high-volume production
Ensuring developed processes achieve and sustain high yield, quality, and reliability in mass production
Mentoring and developing other engineers in assembly process development and manufacturing best practices
Communicating effectively across global, cross-functional teams to align on priorities, surface risks, and drive timely decisions
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
10+ years experience in manufacturing process development of high volume mechanical assemblies.
Deep experience in DFX analysis, application and measurement with focus on assembly, manufacturability and service/repair.
A keen eye for highly cosmetic components, tight tolerances and extensive mechanical requirements
Proficient skills in adhesive dispensing & curing and ultrasonic-thermal-IR welding of thermoplastic parts.
Proven ability with kinematic jig & fixture design.
Knowledge in machine controls, inspection vision systems, and part handling automation.
Available to be office based and to travel within Asia, expected 15%
Proven ability to lead cross-functional product engineering teams in assembly equipment development, PFMEA application and process qualification.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of mechanical part level processing techniques (CNC drilling/machining, paint application and ink printing) is helpful.
Deep experience in DOE, GD&T, STA and Six Sigma.
Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC.
Experience in 3D CAD modeling, specifically Siemens NX is a plus.
