The Pharmacy Technician – Home Delivery, Ambulatory supports Cleveland Clinic's high-volume home delivery pharmacy in Beachwood, helping ensure patients receive their medications safely, accurately, and on time. Working in a fast-paced, assembly line-style environment, this caregiver fills and packages prescriptions, receives and stocks medication shipments, replenishes supplies, operates pharmacy automation and Pyxis technology, and prepares medications for shipment directly to patients. Additional responsibilities include inventory management, warehouse support, and the use of equipment such as pallet jacks to maintain efficient workflow. This role is ideal for caregivers who enjoy a collaborative, production-focused environment dedicated to delivering exceptional service and medication access.

A caregiver in this position will work rotating day shifts between 7:00am to 5:30pm (10-hour shift), 7:00am to 3:30pm, or 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturday shifts may be required based on departmental needs.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.  

• Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.  

• Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.  

• Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.  

• Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.  

• Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.  

• Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• High School Diploma/GED   
• Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA).
• Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
• Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Six months of hospital experience  
• Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program

Physical Requirements:

• Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
