Job Description

The Inside Sales Manager owns and grows high-value client relationships across Treasury & Payments directly and through Payments Consultants. This position will deliver portfolio revenue growth, deepen engagement, and achieve measurable working-capital improvements through consultative leadership and cross-functional coordination as an end-to-end solution selling function across Payments, Merchant and Institutional (PMI).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Portfolio Growth & Retention: Deliver year-over-year revenue growth, expand relationships, and minimize attrition through proactive account planning and executive multi-threading.

  • Lead WCEs (Working Capital Engagement): Run structured consultations with clients to understand current cash-flow processes across collect, disburse, invest, and borrow, translate findings into solution roadmaps with quantified benefits and owners.

  • Opportunity Development: Identify and refer new deposit, treasury, and payments opportunities; partner with Payments Consultants and specialists to advance the sales process.

  • Client Experience Leadership: Serve as primary escalation owner; coordinate Commercial Client Services, Implementations, Product, Risk, and Operations to resolve issues quickly and prevent recurrence.

  • Financial Stewardship: Monitor volume, pricing, and profitability at client and portfolio levels; shape renewal and pricing strategies based on relationship insights.

  • Risk and compliance health (on-time training, zero material audit/exam issues, appropriate escalations). Actively ensure compliance with the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies and procedures. Actively participate in any required corporate and business line training in these areas. Follow all established bank and department policies and procedures and understand and follow internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes, as required for this position. Actively work with clients to understand normal account activity, as appropriate for this position.

  • Lead in conferences, trade shows, training conferences, and other events deemed applicable to assigned portfolio.

Success Measures:

  • Net Revenue Retention (NRR) and YoY net revenue growth (portfolio and client level).

  • Adoption rate of WCE recommendations and depth of product penetration.

  • Client experience (e.g., CSAT/NPS) and time-to-resolution for escalations.

  • Portfolio profitability and price realization.

  • It is the individual responsibility of every employee to maintain a current awareness and understanding of and to fully comply with U.S. Bancorp’s “Code of Ethics”. Each employee is expected to maintain an awareness of the laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures that are appropriate for his/her position.

  • SPECIFICATIONS:

  • This is a general description which covers all levels/grades of the job. Level/grade assignments are determined by the attached leveling guidelines. Minimum qualifications are outlined below:

  • Essential:

  • Deep expertise in treasury management services, including a strong understanding of liquidity and investments, receivables, payments, commercial cards, merchant services, and trade.

  • Client growth & relationship leadership with proven results (NRR, adoption, profitability).

  • Consultative problem-solving using WCE; ability to convert discovery into adopted solutions and measurable outcomes.

  • Portfolio analytics & pricing acumen; comfort with relationship insight tools and renewal strategies.

  • Opportunity origination & sales execution in partnership with Payments Consultants.

  • Orchestration & escalation ownership across CCS, Implementations, Product, Risk, and Operations.

  • Risk, conduct, and compliance fluency (Code of Ethics; AML/BSA; InfoSec; Payments risk).

  • Executive communication—clear writing and compelling verbal storytelling for CFO/Treasury stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Depth in Treasury & Payments (platforms like Single Point; ACH/wires/RTP; fraud controls such as Positive Pay; onboarding/implementation basics).

  • Change and adoption leadership post-WCE; ability to drive outcomes across client and internal teams.

  • Tools & data fluency (CRM, pricing and revenue tools) to build account plans and report progress.

Basic Qualification:
